Diving course (Sihanoukville)

We have a lot of Sihanoukville people here so hopefully someone can help me out. I heard one can do a diving course and get an international scuba diving license there. Can anyone confirm this or have any idea what the best place is and how much it would cost? I heard it takes 4 days or so.

I've heard that the diving is really poor around SHV and you're better off going to south Thailand or, even better, Indonesia to do your PADI tickets - heard this from a dive master.

Lots of places in town can certify you. As above, probably only worth it if you go far offshore, like Koh Tang. Scuba Nation and Dive Shop do trips there and it's said to be lovely. You could probably Google them for rates.

If you haven't been already don't go diving in Sihanoukville, it is crap, especially now in low season. Don't bother with Vietnam either. Try Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia or the Philippines, especially if you want to hang around and enjoy some fun diving after your course.

An Open Water course takes about 4 days. Some places manage to squeeze it into 2 days, especially if you've done online learning but you're better off taking a bit longer. And definitely a good idea to hang around for a few days after the course and do some fun diving.

I'd think spending 7 days in around a nice Thai Island would make for a great holiday, plus the receiving of the PADI
