Derleng Tours -OR- BKK to Siem Reap by car

Post by EVA-Fan »

Apologies if this is a bit borderline as relevant, but I haven't had any luck getting a useful answer in any Thailand forums yet.

Can anyone tell me if Derleng Tours is still in business, and if so how to contact them? I've heard lots of good things about them, but haven't been able to find any recently posted information. In fact I'm not sure whether they are/were based in Thailand or Cambodia. Their website (www.DarlengTours.com) seems to have been hijacked. I sent them an email to an address I found ([email protected]) but no response as yet.

Alternatively, if you know of such...

What I'm after is someone who can organize a private car trip one-way from Bangkok to Siem Reap, taking care of the transport both sides of the border, and I read a few older posts where Derleng Tours received high praise for doing just that, even assisting with the formalities and transition at the border. If the same operator can organize quality hotel accommodation and private tours of Angkor Wat etc all the better.

In the interests of full information, I'm not interested in any cut-price, do-it-yourself suggestions, no matter how easy it's claimed to be. I'm not an economy traveller and I'm quite happy to pay experts to attend to all the minutiae.

They haven't updated their Facebook since 2010, but you might have more success sending them a message via the page.

Thanks, I had come across a reference to their Facebook page, but I am currently in Facebook limbo and cannot access it.

Two days ago I established a Facebook account, made one post just telling my friends where I was, and was in the process of adding friends to my account, people who I actually knew in the real world. Then up popped a Facebook message telling me there was suspicious activity, saying my account was temporarily suspended and demanding I upload a recent photo of myself for them to carry out some sort of verification. What pathetic crap! Anyone can upload a photo of someone else. Still waiting to hear from them, and goodness knows how long that could take. Ever tried to contact Facebook when you can't log into your Facebook account?

So forgetting to renew a registration (if that's even what happened)) destroys all credibility in every aspect of their business? The wealth of extremely favourable reviews & recommendations for them makes a nonsense of your opinion. But thanks for responding with no consideration whatsoever for my posted requirements. Perhaps you missed the fact that my post was all about travelling by car. And perhaps, just perhaps, I might have had reasons for that stipulation; reasons which you don't need to know to answer the actual content of the query as posted.

Well I wouldn't travel by car but you sound like you have a bit of cash so everything can be arranged. But who could arrange it for you I don't know. I would post on Travelfish/Lonely Planet. You would get a provider being recommended I would think. Things are really easy to arrange when in Cambodia, but you should ask advice on places like travelfish to learn about the options.
Do some research about Siem Riep and then you can arrange to do and see whatever you want. Taxis and tuktuks can be charming people if you get the right one. You could even hire a young lady to accompany you on your explorations if desired, anything is possible in Cambodia.
