Re: Denied residency letter siem reap
Thankyou for that! I've already started the ball rolling and I'll know shortly and report back/message you if I can't get it . I appreciate the extra effort and offer of assistance from you. ThankyouMishmash wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 1:42 amThey are confused.Pedroviera wrote: ↑Mon Jan 27, 2020 11:20 am I've read everything I can about obtaining residency letter for a police check/clearance in Cambodia. I don't want to try to get a police check/clearance for Cambodia later when I'm not in Cambodia. I know it's difficult. I have American passport. I have several tourist visas and several eg visas my history in Cambodia (over several year period not in and out) . I receive a pension and don't work. I was turned down for retirement visa several times (too young) in csmbodia so decided on eg visas. Now Cambodia will not issue me a residence letter for a police clearsnce 1) officer (at the correct location building) said I needed proof I wasn't married before. He said "" sorry I don't believe you not married before " when I said I had no single proof documentation from USA I surprised he asked this (what this have to do with residency letter)? 2) officer ask if I work in cambodia how I get money? .
I said I'm retired. He said why you have eg visa? I said Cambodia say I'm too young for retirement visa. I said I considered working a little but never got a parttime job. He exact words said I don't believe your retired because in USA you have to be age 55 to retire. I said I have documents to show... At the very end he said he would need cellibate/haven't been married document from USA embassy for me to receive residency letter from Cambodia. He never looked at my lease, paperwork, ect.... I know you thinking he was confused. But we explained in two languages what I needed for 30 minutes. And if he said it was bad I had eg visa I understand. But he was insisstant on single status document I must have for a resident letter. Also he asked to see girlfriends passport and asked her if she was American ( nobody would confuse her with American)... We dressed for the part. Girlfriend older and well spoken. I've dealt with many foreign embassy agent police all and never an issue. It was a bad vibe from the very beginning. I never got upset and finally said thankyou for time and left..... What the feck I guess this teamoney hint? I have no problem with that and planned on it but room was packed everyone watching and listening, it would been awkward at best. And he was defiant from the beginning. But after explain ten times what we needed in two languages I gave up and left. He was not happy from the start and with a room full of the same vibe staff I said to hell with it maybe tip not accepted I dunno ..... Maybe he though I really needed this document to marry in Cambodia or teacher or something else ? Tea money a little more cuz if so it's required and thinks I'll pay much ? Maybe I don't qualify for a police check cuz I had no job no job no working permits and only tourist and eg visas ? Is this a job for "Kim" agent in phnom penh? Much more hassle I'll say forget about it... Any tips, agent help names appreciated and private messages welcome if you rather thanks for reading long message but I wanted details exact for help
Your Commune Chief will issue you the standard documents (2) if you show your lease agreement, passport and visa copies plus photos.
PM me and I will send you photos of the standard documents so they can copy if they
it never did before for a 'barang'
'Fees' and 'Goodwill' are negotiable. 30$ is acceptable and approved.

Ya man. And maybe I didn't plead or seem desperate enough for his approval . I was very relaxed and easygoing. There was a big audience watching also some macho in the air on his part. From the moment we arrived... If your in Cambodia awhile I think it's wise to get police clearance before you leave (even if you don't need it) cuz more difficult from abroad years later. Despite this maybe the majority of applicants the boss sees want this document to marry so he knows your in need much.... Anyways thanks for all the tips and help here I'll post postmortem results

Make sure you get the correct format for a police clearance. They won't accept just any residency letter @ the MoJ.Pedroviera wrote: ↑Tue Jan 28, 2020 11:50 amYa man.
