I won't go into the details of my case because it's still under investigation but an example might be if I wanted to steal something from you and didn't want you to know about it and report it. a life sentence would solve that problem
That one doesn't really make sense to me.

Why have someone locked up for life, with all the hassle with foreign affairs of other countries getting involved when a solid bag, some concrete and the Mekong river (or even better, the Gulf of Thailand) will solve the matter overnight?

Ask them.its not something I would do. But do you really think other countries are going to interfere with cambodia's justice system? Pretty sure most will not

No, not if it's a one time show. But you make it sound like it's common practice and that would ring a bell for sure and cause all kinds of trouble in the international relationships.

In cambodia you are guilty unless you buy your way out. That's why I don't want to give them another opportunity to imprison me. Contact me if you need help. I eventually found an agent that could help me and while the borders are closed you will probably be ok.
I know a person that due to circumstances beyond her control is 6 months overstay can you advise who is this agency ?
I have been to several for her but all say they need the $10.00 a day which she doesn't have

not exactly what we were talking about but it is sort of common among cambodians. In cambodia you are jailed for civil complaints. Make a complaint and the other person goes to jail till they pay regardless of the evidence.

Very unfortunate. Living in a foreign country on overstay would give me sleepless nights.

I hope she finds someone who can help resolve her immigration issues. It will invariably require money.

yes she was bought here under the pretense of being engaged to a bloke from USA when flights were being canceled due to covid he left her in a hotel with $250.00 and said he would send her funds but he didn't and all flight to Philippines were canceled she got stuck in Phnom Penh, she never heard from him again. Helping her out best I can with rent and food but I have financial limits also and yes she is loosing sleep big time. so when I read this thread and fsdfdsdf said he found an agent can help that is why I am asking but seems he is reluctant now to say for whatever reason.

Try Kim Lennox

As far as I know there is no charge for overstays for people on tourist visas caught by covid.
