Yes, that is a dead end for you.

FBI background check/FBI criminal record check requires fingerprints for starters.

And you haven't specifically said:

Is this for you?

If not, what info do you have of the person you want to check?

Are there certain crimes you think happened?

Do you know where these crimes might have taken place?

If you can'T be more specific, I'm afraid I can't help you.

Depending on who it's for, what you need it for and what info you already have, the answer varies A LOT.

I could do dozens and dozens of "criminal background checks" right now, but with the info you've provided they could be the wrong ones.

So, be more specific.
Well somehow that's strange.........always when an American engages in some kind of horseplay here then forum members come up with very specific information on that person in no time. Whether he is wanted in the US, criminal records, verdicts.......you name it. I would have thought that there is a central register which everyone can access. Isn't that true ???
Yes and no.

All appeals and other pending can be accessed through paid sites or the local law library of the state involved.

We have all sorts of courts and jurisdictions.

And while most of them are considered public records, that doesn't mean they're easily accessible.

There is a federal database, but that is also a pain in the ass to access.

You'd think we would have an easy one-size-fits-all way of accessing these records, but it's just not they simple.

And there are also paid services, but again, those can be hit or miss too.

It works by federal level first. An NCIC should be done by a law enforcement official, but you can get a lawyer to do one for $300 by a law enforcement official.

At the state level it is most difficult in Louisiana in the different parishes, some of them even charging to see.

On the county level is the way to go. Most counties have a web site. You would have to enter say Dade County for Miami, so you would be looking for (in google) Dade County Clerk of Courts. And so on.

You can also access county jail records depending on the county.

You can probably deal with outstanding tickets easily. Just contact them.

If you know someone linked to any law enforcement agency it is a pretty easy thing to get done.

Yeah, country courts are a pain, just because there are so many, and usually articles in the news don't mention the specific county.

And federal prison easily too.

There are a lot of web sites that for a fee will get you everything including criminal/arrest records. When checking on corrupt judges/attorneys in the US the most it cost me was $35. I got their history, home address, phone numbers, records.
