is it ok or crime ?

Post by prahkeitouj »

I have read some expats' comment about posting children's photos. They seemed surprised when the news showed children's pictures. I wonder what are crime or ok in your countries? Or any country you experienced? In Cambodia driving with the light on at day time, you will be fined.

Generally-speaking the victim (or suspect) in a crime cannot be shown if they're under 18. Newspapers put a fake name and no pictures are allowed.

In UK and nearly everywhere else in the world ( everywhere I have been ) Lights should be on at night. Also on Swedish cars they have the lights wired permanently on as it has been shown to cause less accidents. Police don't work at night here, well not as police anyhow. I'm sure if they did, they would start collecting money for lights not on in the night (or maybe they would fine people for having their lights on at night? - not really sure how it would work here)

if the criminal is under 18 (or might be 16), their identity is normally hidden from the public as they are still classed as a minor,
in the uk it is perfectly fine to drive with you lights on in the daytime, and motorcyclists are ususally encouraged to do so to make them more visable as uk drivers are terrible for noticing motorcyclists, i got knocked off my bike twice by people not checking their mirrors

You don't need to have your lights on at night in CMB, yet it's illegal to have them on during the day unless you're a VIP. It's just a WTF thing for me. I can think of no possible rational for either. Bikes have been manufactured with always on lights for a long time and that has to be wired around here. I almost got t-boned by a guy going 90 on a blind corner with no lights last week.

yeah the cunts that drive around with no lights are also the ones that will drive on the wrong side of the road coming at you head on, i dont mind people driving on the wrong side of the road, i do it from time to time here in sihanoukville, you need to because of the barrier that runs in the middle of the main road, but at least be certious about it and go well over near the path not in the middle lane

Throwing your rubbish any place except a rubbish bin is also frowned upon in western countries and sometimes it is a crime.
One of the most extreme examples is Singapore where they say you can be arrested for dropping a cigarette butt, and chewing gum is illegal.

Driving with no headlights on at night allows you to drive much faster as you don't have lights to slow you down, Also you can drive farther on a litre of gas as your moto will not have to make electricity .

I think I 've got it right, and after you have been here a few more years it's easier to understand .

I'm not entirely sure, but according to the old traffic law it's in fact legal to drive around at night without headlights on, the only condition is/was that the street is properly lit. Not sure what the new law says or even if that law is already implemented.
