Re: Cost of Living in Phnom Penh
When people start knocking the food available here I forget that some people are living on the street so to speak.phuketrichard wrote:was NOT referring to expensive or even western restaurants, as i doubt the op was, not at 10,000 riel/mealKuroneko wrote:I don't know about that. I can get good imported French Pâté, foie gras and cheese in Phnom Penh for a reasonable price and also US prime and Wagu steak. I dont know how available or expensive these are in Bangkok, but used to be nigh impossible to get. Also I can get very good French wines here at very competitive prices which are or certainly used to be prohibitive in Bangkok. The convenience is also important, I can get to the local deli on Monivong in about 10-15 minutes from my apartment to pick up what I need and get good smoked bacon and Cumberland sausage delivered to my door at $9/kg.phuketrichard wrote:if u can live that cheap in Cambodia , think how much cheaper u could live in Thailand
food- cheaper ( an better)
Phnom Penh also has a lot of good international restaurants which are fairly accessible and well priced. If one doesn't suit another is only about five minutes away. This was not the case in Bankok, might have changed but I don't think the price will be as competitive as here!
yes u can eat western food cheaper in PP, BUT u cant eat local food cheaper ( and for sure i prefer my cow meung gai with NO BONES for less$)
and i said nothing about wine which is expensive here
At villa market , foodland, even Tesco u can get all kinds of expensive imported foods but again the op was not referring to eating cheese, foie gras, pate' or wagu steak LOL
Here I was just thinking of myself and what I eat/drink. For what I buy, Phnom Penh is a much more convenient, better and cheaper living option. Eating wise I have a similar lifestyle here to when I lived in Melbourne over 20 years ago at about a third the price. And the climate and night life is much better

I think either your meter is broken, or a neighbor tried to steal your power and fucked it up somehow.

Maybe a previous tenant rigged it and Jamie is stealing another neighbour's power?General Mackevili wrote: I think either your meter is broken, or a neighbor tried to steal your power and fucked it up somehow.

Maybe his meter looks like this:

Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: Cost of Living in Phnom Penh
Haha. Many years ago some friends of mine lived on the third floor of a warehouse building in downtown Auckland. On their meter board there were meters for ground floor, level 1 and level 2. But where the meter for level 3 was supposed to be was just a red wire loop. Nice for some!General Mackevili wrote: Maybe his meter looks like this:
