Clubbing in Sihanoukville? Anyone been?

Post by superferret »

I lived in PP so I know the "clubbing" scene there, but here in S'ville it's such a mystery. What are these clubs like LV, etc? (not talking about the beach ones!)
How's the scene, is it some place a foreigners can go and have a good time? How are the price, and which nights are good?
Any of you guys been there?

I have not been, but I imagine the clubs there to be full of Chinese freshy nouveau riche douche bags. You are probably better off just going out for a few drinks followed by a skanky massage.

They are mostly Khmer place. Location https://www.google.com.kh/maps/search/l ... !3m1!4b1My friend is there now and says its so horrible compared to last year he is off to Thailand. Ridiculous rents, place is a building site and nothing but Chinese. Also Mick and Craigs has a sign outside saying 10% vat will be added to the bill. tax man is going to push barang out to make room for more chinese

as mentioned its mainly Khmer clubs
LV would be my favourite club but i think its closed for refurb, or i think i heard the chinese have bought it cant remember

theres also Skyline club which is near the old 333KTV (Khmer club but barang music)
the new Soho club which is next to the square (mainly for chinese i think)
theres Taboo club which is above Taboo restaurant opposite utopia (probably the most barang friendly)
Kub which is out in Otres 2 area i think thats a nightclub (never been inside)

only been to Soho once last month and it was pretty dead, cant even remember seeing a dancefloor tbh menu was all in chinese
not been in taboo since about Feb, and never bothered with Skyline as prefer LV but a lot of my Khmer friends like it,
if i was to recommend a club id of said LV, but i think its closed now, was cheap i used to drink Long islands in there for $3.50,

SHV has gone down hill dramatically now

Thanks, I heard Kub on otres was a money laundering operation, people near there said there's never any customers but it still remains open.
What's the deal with that one ?

yes, funny all those big buildings and no customers coming and going isn't it?
what does that tell you?
Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown
kind of at odds with the opinion that the status quo will continue.

I look for a giant implosion of substandard concrete dust in the near future

Whys everyone so upset on the chinese buying up SNV?

we all know SEA in general is a kinda "has been" destination that "used to be good".

My self included knows SNV never was really that good.

You're right, SNV has always been a shithole, and a very dangerous one in the past. I'm just upset cause my khmer friends happen to be here,
otherwise if I never visited this place in my life again, I think I could live with that.
