Chinese 5 Spice
Re: Chinese 5 Spice
I bought five-spice from Thai Huot in Toul Kork a couple of years back, not sure if they still have it, will check later & report back.

Re: Chinese 5 Spice
Any luck, Doc?
I got this the other day...
Decent tasting and only a buck and a half for about half that potful. It says it's 50 grams.
One slight hiccup: I bought it Asia Market in Siem Reap.
I'm sure I can ship you some if it comes to it but the brand name is Kitchen's Gate. No idea if they've got a site or whatever.

Not much of a haute chef myself but I'll use it in things where I quickly fry meat and veggies. Stir fries, if you will.
It's also a winner for me in an omelette.

I’m most familiar with its use on Roasted pork- five spice rubbed into the skin before roasting. Also, 5-spice bbq ribs.I would like to know, in what dishes this blend is utilized.
It features in quite a few bbq and roast dishes. Even some desserts, involving apples. Slightly Sweet, slightly spicy, tasty and versatile.

I have tried:
Super Duper x 2, Lucky Sorya, Smile Mart and 7-Eleven on 136 , eMart on 144.
Next stop I suppose is Bayon and Thai Hout - which are a trek - but does anyone know for sure where I can get a jar? I am one ingredient away from making it myself!
Where is this?

That's how I thought it would come, like all the other spices from whoever uses those pots and supplies Super Super, Smile etc.reggie perrin's dad wrote: ↑Wed Oct 04, 2023 9:15 pm Any luck, Doc?

I actually made something similar yesterday which smells pretty good, so I will wing it with my homemade blend. Thanks for the reply.
