Cheapest SIM Card
Re: Cheapest SIM Card
Yes it does in my case, but I actually tend to end up using all my data before that expiry date, in which case you need to go for the "Renew early" option. Good thing about SmartNas is that you can still get into it with 0 data left. Likewise I think you can also use ABA with 0 data left so you can get in & top up.

Re: Cheapest SIM Card
Why not buying a pile of those scratch cards while still in Cambodia? They have usually a validity of a year or more, so when your SIM is about to expire, just top up?
Driving on Cambodian roads is just like playing a classic arcade top scroller. The only difference is a force feedback controller, the limitation to only one life and the inability to restart, once Game Over
Re: Cheapest SIM Card
That is an option, as mentioned USSD codes (*{insert # here}#) will automatically route to the home gateway (Smart, Cambodia, etc) so long as you are roaming.

Re: Cheapest SIM Card
I bought my Smart-card at the Smart shop on riverside near street 108 and exolained them what i wanted, no idea what they all did, but i have Smart Laor 6, what gives me for 6 dollar every month 50GB what i knever use. I topped up 29/01 and the system says outgoing calls blocked from 23/3 to 21/5 and all service blocked from 21/5 to 20/7, what means i keep the number without any problem until 20/7, then i top up for at least 2 dollars (was 1 dollar pre-covid) and i keep the number another 6 months, as i useally leave KOW for less then 9 months, it costs me 2 dollar on unused topup, just paying with my CC on the APP, no need for help from somebody in the country if you are abroad at all !!

Are you using up all of this data while you are outside of Cambodia, or while you are in Cambodia?Spigzy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 12:20 am Yes it does in my case, but I actually tend to end up using all my data before that expiry date, in which case you need to go for the "Renew early" option. I'm just trying to keep the SIM on in order to get text messages to access Cambodian accounts.

Re: Cheapest SIM Card
Good idea for next time, I'm not in Cambodia now. Using local bank account to add money to the SIM.
But also, when I tried recently the USSD code wasn't working.

In Cambodia, but I am a heavy data user, so expected.daeum_tnaot wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 10:32 pmAre you using up all of this data while you are outside of Cambodia, or while you are in Cambodia?Spigzy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 12:20 am Yes it does in my case, but I actually tend to end up using all my data before that expiry date, in which case you need to go for the "Renew early" option. Re: Cheapest SIM Card
When I was in Cambodia, I used one of those weekly plans that cost $1, and you get a certain number of GB per week; I think it was 5 GB. For Smart it was called Smart Laor, IIRC.Spigzy wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 11:19 pmIn Cambodia, but I am a heavy data user, so expected.daeum_tnaot wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 10:32 pmAre you using up all of this data while you are outside of Cambodia, or while you are in Cambodia?Spigzy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2024 12:20 am Yes it does in my case, but I actually tend to end up using all my data before that expiry date, in which case you need to go for the "Renew early" option. Re: Cheapest SIM Card
Following on from this discussion... yesterday I inadvertently dialled the wrong code for a data balance check & my Smart XtraLong Plan was immediately switched to the Smart Laor! 1.5 Plan.
Went into a Smart store here in SR & was told I can't switch back to XtraLong & must stick with one of the Laor! plans.
Very frustrating as the XtraLong Plan suited me when I was overseas for many months/years. Easy & cheap to top-up for 90-180 days at a time.
Anyway, just thought I'd air this & welcome any feedback or suggestions.
Cheers...

Re: Cheapest SIM Card
I think for anything up to a year validity you can look at the Smart M2M plan as the best option (https://www.smart.com.kh/get-smart/plan ... o-machine/). If you switch to that whilst away, should do the biz from my observation?
[edit: And yes, looks like they rejigged all the USSD codes, horror show, especially given some of the plans are not in their app for easy switching yet - grrr.]
