Cheap shops

Post by juansweetpotato »

Can anyone remind me of the name of those cheap shops where everything is a fixed price? I seem to remember they were called 3000R shops? Can seem to find them listed under that name. I need to buy some plastic crap for the home. Bog brush, Waste bin, dustpan and brush etc. Thanks.

My kids call them the 2500 shop, but I call them the $10 shop. By the time they buy all the plastic junk they want, I'm lucky to walk away less than $10 lighter. Yes, not everything they sell is 2500 r.

There's one in Siem Reap on Sivutha... it's all fixed price (everything less than a buck don't remember how much less - probably 3,000 Riel) and it's Japanese owned and run. Last time I went in there, there was a German guy wandering the shop picking stuff up at random and then asking how much it was. I honestly can't praise the Khmer lad, on the till, highly enough for not beating him to death when he asked the same question for 33rd time...

There's a Japanese $1.90 shop on the corner of 172 and Norodom. Another in Aeon mall. And still another on Sotheros next to/in front of Dream World. (There are probably some more that I don't know about!) Not sure if they'll have what you're looking for, and the prices are more than double 3000 riel.

Jap shop sounds interesting. Same stuff as in the 2500R stores? got all my stuff for under $5. Some things are more than 2500R.
Big bags of washing powder for instance. All in all, quite a pleasant experience as shopping goes. No veg Vlad, but they do do deals on packets of bickys.
