Re: Cambodian Dentists
If a dentist has told you to get work done on your wisdom teeth, I'd do it - there are a number of problems associated with not doing anything, including crowding your jawline (weakening your other teeth) and the wisdom teeth becoming more difficult to remove later. Also, if I was getting one removed, I'd ask the dentist if it was appropriate to remove several at once, or even all.Samouth wrote:I am not even 30 yet . It didn't grow up straight, but bent down in horizontal position, in which can destroy the nearby teeth when small meat or rice get into between. It was likely just a money maker for my dentist. My golf buddy dentist gleefully informed of this after. Some are extracted without problems & some are wrapped around your jawbone & require an oral surgeon. You'll need a general anesthetic if doing all 4 & maybe a few stitches. Most important is that everything is sterile & antiseptic. If you actually need it done, I don't think I'd go cheap.

Yes I had 4 "horizontal" Wisdom teeth -- it a bad condition as it pushes all your other teeth inward towards the center and causes then to shift in front of and behind each other.Samouth wrote:I am not even 30 yet . I had all 4 removed in a surgery while I was in my 20s. Pretty straight forward.. in and out in a few hours but requires a general anesthetic .. so you will need someone to help you when you leave.. Bled a lot the first night .. drainage onto a pillow .. but healed in a matter of days.
Get it done while you are still young ... no point in letting them disturb your healthy teeth further plus the risks are less and you will heal quicker when younger.
If you can afford it, definitely go to a place that with a good reputation for this procedure. It is more than a simple dental procedure and anytime a General anesthetic is used you want people who know what they are doing.
Cheers,
RD

Yes, I would too , if i could find one. It's a bit like trying to find a good electrician or plumber.StroppyChops wrote:If a dentist has told you to get work done on your wisdom teeth, I'd do it - there are a number of problems associated with not doing anything, including crowding your jawline (weakening your other teeth) and the wisdom teeth becoming more difficult to remove later. Anyhow my report from yesterday.
I went to 9 places yesterday. I was trying to find a specific one recommended by a Khmer. never found it but found LaBelle, which looked good and not too expensive. Still well over the going rate though. Lot of small dirty family run dentists that have copied RoomChang prices, most have a nice price list written for their English speaking customers. I was also taken to another 4 by another guy who has lived here all his life. The best one was the right price, almost, but when I sat down he told me a complete load of utter bollocks and then after repeatedly telling him i didn't need a bridge right at the moment thanks, and I have tooth ache around about here. He proceeded to dig a whole in between my back teeth where the cavity is ( a practice that has not been recommended in the west for quite a few years now) He told me that that also would have to be a crown. I am surprised that Cambodians don't seek dental as well as medical treatment in Vietnam.
Prices were about 2.5 that of Vietnam if you shopped around a bit. Going to try my Khmer friends recommendation or LaBelle and will get back to you.

I know that it is really bad to still keep it. If i followed the dentist recommendation, i should have gotten it removed last month, but i was really scared, moreover i had some problem with financial. i didn't want to ask the money from my mom to do it. I think i will do it this month after i get my salary. I will go to the Romchang as it seems to be a really decent and reliable one.StroppyChops wrote:If a dentist has told you to get work done on your wisdom teeth, I'd do it - there are a number of problems associated with not doing anything, including crowding your jawline (weakening your other teeth) and the wisdom teeth becoming more difficult to remove later. Thanks RD for more information on the subject. i now have more confident to do it, however i only have one horizontal wisdom teeth. The three other are fine. but the dentist suggested me to get them all removed for the sake of oral hygiene. He said wisdom tooth are not important. they cause harm than benefit. I am not thinking if i should get them all removed.Rain Dog wrote:Yes I had 4 "horizontal" Wisdom teeth -- it a bad condition as it pushes all your other teeth inward towards the center and causes then to shift in front of and behind each other.Samouth wrote:I am not even 30 yet . Re: Cambodian Dentists
I had all my impacted wisdom teeth removed under local anesthetic in 2 separate operations. It's a bit gruesome but I'd recommend avoiding general anesthetics if at all possible. Just grin and bear it.

Re: Cambodian Dentists
What do you mean by avoiding general anesthetics? Without anesthetic, it would be so hurt.John Bingham wrote:I had all my impacted wisdom teeth removed under local anesthetic in 2 separate operations. Re: Cambodian Dentists
You need to find (google) the difference between local anesthetic and general anesthetic.

Re: Cambodian Dentists
General anesthetic causes you to be unconscious, Samouth - local anesthetic is a needle in the mouth to make your mouth go numb so you don't feel as much pain or discomfort. General anesthetic is more like a hospital operation.Samouth wrote:What do you mean by avoiding general anesthetics?
