Cambodia Retirement Visa Confusion
Cambodia Retirement Visa Confusion
Thanks for adding me on CEO! I've been searching for 'steps to obtain a retirement visa and cost' and this is what I found: 1. Get a tourist visa for $35, 2. come into the country and then apply for a one-year retirement visa. Is that correct? Please what is the exact steps, costs and requirements regarding having money in the bank, monthly income, etc. Thanks!
Re: Cambodia Retirement Visa Confusion
1. Apply for the E-type (Ordinary) Visa on Arrival, $35, 1x passport pic, valid for 1 month. (Do not get a T-type Tourist Visa on arrival!).
2. At least 1 week prior to your VOA expiring go to a visa agent and apply for a12 month ER (Retirement) EOS (Extension of Stay). If you are 55+ then no supporting documentation is required. Appx cost $270 - 300 (depending on the agent you use).
3. 11 months later repeat step 2.

Can you get the ER EOS if you arrive on an E-Visa?

Re: Cambodia Retirement Visa Confusion
If by E-Visa you are referring to the e-Visa which is an Electronic Tourist visa, then no, you can only get a 1 month T-type EOS maximum....If you meant the E- type (Ordinary) VOA, then yes you can apply for an ER EOS...simple enough?

I meant the e-visa available online which I have never optioned, but as I was researching it yesterday, it did seem that you could extend it. Still not totally clear on the rules of that one, but i like it because it doesn't use up a page on your passport.

Re: Cambodia Retirement Visa Confusion
the E-visa u get online can be extended ONCE for 30 days for around $40, (ur right, its just a stamp) BUT the 30 day extension will be a full page stamp
you dont want that one if u want the ER extension.

Re: Cambodia Retirement Visa Confusion
I went to my favourite travel agent today to renew my annual ER EOS. I was told a one page letter needed to be written showing my address, phone number and my monthly/annual income in USD. A letter was drafted then and there and I thumb-printed it. I am over 55 btw. I was not asked to show any proof of income.
To preempt possible comments, I know this agent well and I am sure they feel it is a genuine (new) requirement.

All Visa Extension of Stays are now supposed to be accompanied by a letter as per described by armchairlawyer, however most agents are just doing it themselves, some will ask the applicant to sign/thumbprint, some won't.
It will be years before Cambodian Immigration make changes such as having to have money deposited in a bank like Thailand...they're still trying to work out the changes they made a couple years ago! Hahaha!

Actually I would like them to do it. it would get rid of some of the dross thats wound up turning the kingdom of wonder into a copy of Lieland. they just neede to get the amount right.
Enough in the bank to keep yourself for the year that you can spend plus a flight home for deportation you cant spend. Say $12,000 ish.
I do not object to the cost of the Thai system, just the bloody petty bureacracy. If you dont use an agent you waste half your time running here , there and back again
