Cambodia International Schools pay and hours

Post by chopstickDragon »

Hey expats. I am seriously thinking of heading THERE, Cambodia, to teach. Have you any solid advice on what a very good salary
is? hours? at International schools in Cambodia.

I have spoken to a couple and they say they don't offer housing or flights. So I'm thinking...so you don't want to hire me? I am currently overseas
and interviewing. :beer2:

Is 2000 US dollars decent?

My standard of living is semi - high. Would need a very modern AirCon place in a semi big place.
And I cook but also would go out a couple of times a week. :dragonchase:

I need a gym and to save. :dm:

What about the Golden Gate American School? Any intel?
Canadian International School?
Footprints Int'l school?

suggestions? :stir:
Advice?

Negotiable rates? :plus1:

Would like to hear back with up to date info.

Thank you.

As someone who hires teachers at a Cambodian International school, I wouldn't employ anyone with your arrogance. First, describe your qualifications and experience. International School is a very broad term that describes a wide variety of educational institutions and the requirements for employment vary enormously, as do salaries and conditions. I doubt that you would meet our standards.
Anyone who makes demands when approaching us for employment doesn't get past 1st. base and I expect the same applies to other schools offering salaries at the level you expect. The schools you have mentioned are totally diverse in terms of age groups, curricula, salaries and conditions.

oh demands? They are questions.
Ok could you please perhaps provide some insight on the difference of the schools I queried?
In general terms.

No sure how I was arrogant, I guess that is your perception. Your post was rather aggressive towards a stranger just asking innocent questions.
I have to state my standards to get honest feedback. No point in accepting offers and living a life that I wouldn't want.
It's called dipping your toe in the water to gauge the temperature out there online to my lifestyle and questions. :assasin:

There are dozens of people arriving here each week hoping to get a job teaching. Some have no qualifications or experience, some have Celta certificates (or something) for teaching English. Then there are the ones who are REAL properly qualified teachers who have the qualifications to teach in their own country.

Which of the above is you?

I am the real one. Have Skype interviews with several international schools there. Providing all qualifications plus experience, and police background checks.
Am not much of a 'risk' taker now. I did that for my first overseas job. Fly to place then pounded the pavement. I have the luxury now of emailing and waiting for them to call.
Thus my questions.

I am finding the information all over the place with regards to working in Cambodia.

Gilmore's response to your post should clue you in to hiring preferences in Cambodia. Qualification's and experience aside they really want a paid twerp.
As my old Cajun bait seller used to say, "I opes you luck.

OP, contact Southbridge, they're looking for loads of teachers...they might hire you.
They're offering around about what you're after, plus other possible benefits depending on your experience and qualifications (not a full tier 1 package, but possible housing assistance and flights)

Just find out if you get paid a salary at the end of July (summer break), or if they withhold it until you return, and only get paid at the end of August.

People who go looking for work with an arrogant attitude, but don't know what to list in their enquiry...take a guess.
