Total :newbie: with Amazon.

I found some stuff there that I'm thinking of buying and its says it delivers to Cambodia. I got a quote already from Camboquick.

To do a comparison, and to find the shipping cost with Amazon, I understand I have set up an Amazon account, add an address and set up 1-click address.

However, the Amazon Zip code field says not valid when I enter either 12204 (Daun Penh) or 12000 (PP Post Office). User error or am I missing something obvious?

Also, I'm assuming I have to select AmazonGlobal Priority Shipping to get it delivered by DHL? It says that will arrive by Aug 16 that way. Do you select your home address or just put the PP Post Office for that? thanks

I used postcode 123011 and it worked for me.

Sometimes camboquick is cheaper and sometimes amazon is so worth checking both. Service from camboquick has been excellent when I have used them

Clutchcargo the problem is that you are using an old 5 digit postcode. you need to find out your new 6 digit postcode and use that with Amazon.

^^^^^^
Thanks. Unable to find 6 digit PP zip codes on google (although I might have missed it) but adding a '0' does the trick.

So for those interested in the comparison, I was looking at importing low weight goods of 2.6 lb and overall price for Camboquick $123.42 and Amazon $125.00. Interestingly Camboquick got me a discount of $4.60 on the goods which wasn't apparent to me at Amazon yet their shipping was $3 more.

Delivery with Amazon is by 16 August whereas Camboquick is estimated 20-23 August.

Camboquick will home deliver whereas I think I read somewhere else that Amazon will deliver to PP Post Office. If that's the case, home deliver is easier for me plus no collection fee at PP PO (I think it's 2500 riel).

when I used Amazon DHL delivered to my door (Tonle Basaac) although they have a tendency to call you up and tell you when they are already outside rather than arranging a time beforehand

Cambodia post codes changed earlier this year. You can find the correct one here https://www.cambodiapost.post/en/page/postal-codes

Well, I spoke too soon about not being charged any import tax on my online shopping the past 2+ years.

Had a FedEx delivery with two boxes and a stated value of $300+ held at airport for clearance.

FedEx won't do it themselves and gave me the number of some shyster who wanted a $200 fee, $200 for "tax" and 10% VAT!!

I knocked him back and will have to go wrangle with them at the airport myself later this week.

Strangely, seems DHL will sort clearance at a reasonable rate and then just bill you on collection, but fedex have these crooked agents in between them and the customs at Pochentong. . .

Oh well, DHL only from now on.

I was quoted $170 from DHL to clear customs as well... Not including the actual taxes of course. Same same but different.
