Boxing in Phnom Penh

Post by HappyChappy »

I've taken up Kun Khmer and LOVE it, it's the best workout I've ever done......... BUT, it looks like my hips aren't built for it, I can feel my right hip grinding the bone and I see problems on the horizon.

Does anyone know a decent boxing gym not involving kicks??? I just want to do regular western boxing / pad work, I'm not ready for a hip replacement just yet.

You will still be using your legs/hips in boxing. When I was boxing, most of my pains were in my legs and specifically my knees. I suppose wheelchair boxing may avoid much of that.

Haha okay maybe even kneeling boxing.

I know boxing or even running uses your legs, but the intensity and angles of kicks are taking a real tole on my right hip, it's just must less intense I'm sure you'll agree.

tbh i dont see why whoever is training you at the Kun Khmer classes cant just allow you to just box, it makes their job easier haha kickboxing does take a bigger toll on your body for sure but as i say ive got a contact who teaches boxing here

Well they're doing group training so I assume I have to follow some sort of process but now you mention it I could always tell them to leave out the kicks and knees.....

kun khmer fight club for now. I've signed up to the end of December so I think I'm gonna stick it out and hope the hip gets better. Failing that I'm gonna have to look elsewhere.
