Birding Question For Hanno
Birding Question For Hanno
Hi Hanno, I am from England. I hope you can help me. In Feb/March 2014 my three friends and I came to Cambodia and booked a birding trip with Sam Veasna Centre in Siem Reap ( Excellent Company ). We had a awesome trip, and with the exception of Oriental Plover ( Charadrius Veredus ) we saw everything we wanted to see, including Irawaddy Dolphin and a very brief view of Leopard. On the morning of Friday March 14th we left Mondulkiri Province and drove towards Phnom Penh to connect with our Saturday morning flight home via Bangkok. We stopped briefly at a area on the outskirts of Phnom Penh to look for Cambodian Tailorbird ( CT ) ( Orthotomus Chaktomuk ).We managed to see this species without much effort, thanks to our excellent guide Naran. Now, I am coming to Phnom Penh in November with my friend John, who was not present on our 2014 trip. So, I would like to show him ( CT ) , but I have no record of the location and wondered if you can help with this ?. Also November is a good time for migrating Oriental Plover which I believe go through in large numbers. So if you are aware of any suitable habitat for this species near Phnom Penh that would be great. Looking at my 2014 notes I noticed we only saw three Dollarbirds ( Eurystomus Orientalis ) in the entire 2 weeks duration of our trip. However we did manage to see 100's walking round Street 104, 110, 130, and 136 on our last Friday night bar crawl. Are they still present. LoL.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I know Naran very well and he is indeed an excellent birder if moody at times.YORKIE wrote: ↑Tue Jan 30, 2018 11:19 pm Hi Hanno, I am from England. I hope you can help me. Let me get an update on CT as some of the habitats have disappeared since 2014.
I will ask for a spot for OP near PP. My birding is around Siem Reap and even here OP's are a fickle lot.
Dollarbirds still much more common on the streets than outdoors.
