Unless you are looking for an SUV you should be able to pick up a saloon for $7000-$9000.
SUV are usually 2 wheel drive to save juice
LPG conversions $1000-$2000 ish
Stick to Toyota. Everyone can fix them, loads of new and used parts
if you can go and buy one straight out the container. local dealer should be able to help you. that way you might get one that is not 3 wrecks welded back together

If you're not a brand snob, Hyundai is very reliable also, bought one 3 years ago (new one though), drive around 20.000km a year and Never had a problem with it. I do get it serviced twice a year at the cost of around $50. You can find second hand Hyundais for around that price.

The old tucsons are ugly as sin, but they'll keep marching on without much hassle with 300k miles on the clock.

At that price you'll find 2000 - 02 Rav4, CRV, Grand Vitara, Tucson; 2004-06 Matrix; 1997 Four Runners, and early 2000 Camrys.

Mid 2000's Prius for that price.

Very economical. No good off road.

Careful with the secondhand Prius though, heard the batteries only last 10 years and it's a lot of money to replace those!

You should be able to pick up a Lexus rx 300 from early 2000s for this amount - same as Toyotas they are easily serviceable, safe, and good for highways ("highway" is used very loosely). No cars are good for the city driving imho
And Khmers will think you are cool and will always get out of your way
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes
