Best ATM in Sihanoukville

Having problems with ATMs I've tried in S'ville - the maximum withdrawal is too low (less than $500) and they charge $5 per transaction.
Any suggestions for a user-friendly ATM that takes Visa or Mastercard ?

I know quite a few expats that fit the "user friendly ATM" description.

Seriously I think that's the limit on all machines here. If you want larger amounts you go inside the bank with passport and card. Did this when I bought a new moto a while back.

The ANZs are what I use. They'll give you $500. There's one down in front of the Golden Sands Resort down by the beach and the bank is downtown between Canadia Bank & Charlie Harpers. As far as a cash advance on a credit card - I only do it in an emergency knowing I will be ass-raped with fees. I imagine you can get $500 at any casino too. My bank back in the US refunds all ATM charges.

From recent experience - from both ends. Make sure your credit card has a positive balance to cover the withdrawal and cash advance fees before hitting the ATM, to minimize the damage. ANZ Australia to ANZR costs $4 for $400 plus the local ATM charges if you're in the black. The currency conversion rate is also a killer.

Actually had a positive experience with transferring from MasterCard to Western Union during the week - save WU office I had problems with previously. 10 minutes max, no hassle. Having my Khmer manager with me might have made the difference.

Should comment that ANZ Oz uses a sliding scale to calculate cash advance fees, up to $400 is a flat $4, higher is percentage based.

Doesn't the Canadia ATM downtown have free ATM withdrawals? Or is that a thing of the past?

Find a Cathway United Bank ATM (the yellow and green machine). They should allow 1k at a time for $5. They are formerly known as SBC (the red machine)
