I see. Thanks for the info.John Bingham wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 10:29 amThey don't mix methanol in, it's naturally produced in distillation. If the manufacturers don''t know what they are doing, people get poisoned.DavidMurphy wrote: ↑Mon Jan 22, 2024 11:53 am
Sraa T'nam can kill or blind you if the producer mixes in methanol to save money.
https://www.carbotecnia.info/aprendizaj ... s/?lang=enThe highest concentration of methanol is found in the tops and bottoms of the distillate. That is, the first and last collection fraction of the distillate after condensing. Producers of distilled beverages cut through the distillation process to collect only the heart, and discard the heads and tails. The cuts is the key operation where the distillate is collected with less amount of methanol, which is why this stage of the production process is very important for producers of distilled beverages, where knowledge and experience are necessary when making cuts .
I remember from Cricklewood in the '80s that two alcos on the street used to drink methylated spirits mixed with water. How did they survive that?

Maybe something was lost in translation?DavidMurphy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 8:59 am Interesting information from my new friend Bunnat. His wife is a retailer and their beer Krud is selling very well. He told me that members of Vattanac brewery, ie: official retailers sell two grades of Beer Krud, one slightly more expensive but with a lot of winners. He buys the pricier one, loses a bob or two on purchase but his sales have gone up 400%.
Usually the brewery make two batches, one with the lucky rings for retail, one without for wholesale. Think wedding venues etc etc.

Re: Beer
Perhaps so but he told me in Khmer, which I'm fluent in (so I'm told LoL). He very clearly said that when he goes to the wholesaler, he's offered a choice: cheaper case with less winners or slightly dearer with more winners.Kammekor wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2024 7:52 pmMaybe something was lost in translation?DavidMurphy wrote: ↑Mon Mar 11, 2024 8:59 am Interesting information from my new friend Bunnat. I bought a case yesterday. 12 cans drank already. 7 winners. 6 free cans and 10,000 KHR.
The same was the case at the wholesaler in Krong Duon Kaew (previously Takeo town).
I bought there directly because it was 200m from my room. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th cases I bought there yielded 870,000 KHR and about 30 free cans. The owner had just joined the brewery officially and was offered 700 of the lucky cases at the cheaper rate as a joining bonus. He spoke perfect English so nothing was lost in translation, I believe.
Cheers everyone!
All this talk of beer has given me a thirst.
Time to blow the froth of a glass of amber necter.
P.S. The wholesaler exchanged my 500,000 KHR winner for 480,000 cash. A retailer would offer 400,000 or 450,000. Fuck that!
I should have mentioned in my OP that he went directly to the wholesaler. You're aware that a wholesaler will also sell retail, right?
Can you imagine them turning down money and business? I can't LoL.
How does what I wrote disagree with your information? It doesn't.
The retailer in front of my room clearly buys the cheaper grade. Feck all winners.
Good luck everyone!

Based on the descriptions of your drinking habits, I think its now clear how you ended up homeless Sincerley wishing you all the best for the future.

P..S. My guy in Kampot has just told me that he has no herb to sell (first time in 7 years).
I asked why? He said, "The local government won't permit me."
Anyone down in The Pot know about a clampdown?
He's devastated. I'm not thrilled either.
Might be time to visit Thailand b4 the new gov't bans it again (reading rumours online).
Buy some grade A seeds, swallow them in Aranyaprathet, shit them into a hole in my garden in Cambodia. 14 weeks later - bingo!
