Get them to send it registered with tracking, addressed with your full name and phone number, c/o Kampot Post Office, Kampot, Cambodia. They'll call you to pick it up when it arrives.

My idiot neighbour sent one and didn't register it and ofc it never arrived (and it was addressed to my PO box at that).

Done it twice from Panama.

Have the bank send it by UPS or DHL, only!

Tell the bak that you will pick it up at the carrier's office. DO NOT DELIVER TO YOUR HOUSE.

Get the tracking number!

Track it on the website so you know when leaves Oz and when it gets to Cambodia.

Before it gets here, call the carrier and tell them you will pick it up. Make sure you give them the tracking number. The bank will probably mess this part up. Do not deliver to your house.

Take your passport with you when you go to pick it up.

This way cuts out a lot of opportunity for mistakes, language issues, theft, etc. :hattip:

I had a credit card sent from Canada to China by registered mail. The key to success was having the address written in both English and Chinese.

I suggest you have the sender address it in both English and Khmer.

If available it is probably better to have a family member ship it via DHL. This way you can trust that all the fine details are taken care of. And if for some reason it gets sent back to the sender then can try again.

I had a bad experience with DHL in China. HP sent a new power cord for my computer from the US to China via DHL. The trouble was DHL subcontracts the delivery once the package gets to China. The Chinese courier service got it to within a kilometer of me in Zhengzhou when it was sent back 1000 kilometers to Shanghai... and "successfully delivered '... to the wrong person at the wrong address in the wrong city in the wrong part of the country. It was traceable and it showed delivery to the wrong address!!

HP referred me to DHL. DHL referred me to the Chinese company (where they couldn't understand the problem because it was "successfully delivered"... morons). After two months, 100 emails and 50 phone calls, I gave up.

I'd expect DHL subcontracts to Cambodian courier companies. How lucky do you feel?

Thanks Timmy, Now having looked into this some more, I presume that you are referring to using " EMS " which to me seems a lot cheaper than " DHL "

Australia Post satchel with tracking, cost like AU$25 or something though but arrived in 5 days over a weekend, so worth it for peace of mind.

Oh, you will have to pay a couple of dollars at the PO when you collect it as well.
