Arrival Queries In These Uncertain Times

Ask us anything. Cambodia Expats Online has a huge community of long-term expats that can answer any question you may have about life in Cambodia. Have some questions you want to ask before you move to Cambodia? Ask them here. Our community can also answer any questions you have about how to find a job or what kind of work is available for expats in Cambodia, whether you're looking for info about Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, or anywhere else in the Kingdom. You're also welcome to ask about visa and work permit questions as well, as the immigration rules change often, especially since COVID-19. Don't be shy, ask CEO's community anything!

@Element6 see Maxnormals comment above. People in the Cambodia Visa and WP group and Cambodia Quarantine Experience groups on Facebook have confirmed, and even posted copies of the travel authorisation letters received.

OP, just sit and wait. Things are changing by the day now, if not a few times a day. Especially in Phnom Penh. Where I live, out in the boonies, life goes on as always except for the police disturbing loud karaoke parties. From what I hear Siem Reap is not that relaxed.

I don't see things change back anytime soon, and once they start easing it will probably go step by step and re-opening of the schools will be one of the last items on their list. Same for inter-provincial travel. After all these measures were the first to implement in the past.

For now sit and wait, follow the news, and anticipate on the fact your Cambodian adventure might be delayed, or even cancelled.

I was just wondering yesterday, I wonder how many people are still flying into Camboda on a average daily basis?
Always "hope" but never "expect".

You must be an extremely optimistic person to come to Phnom Penh now. I would have stayed home if I had a ticket to Phnom Penh this week and enjoy European spring and summer.

This is more or less what we are thinking at this stage. As mentioned in a previous post a little further up, rather than going straight to a plan B we are thinking of it more as plan A-and-a-half. We are thinking we will delay for a time, maybe 1 or 2 weeks at a time, observing the situation as it develops on the ground. We will form a plan B to keep on the back burner, but hope for the best. As AndyKK's signature says "Always "hope" but never "expect".

We do have some time built in to the situation before we would 'need' (in theory) to make the decision proper regarding contracts ahead, and we can formulate a plan to place us in a holding pattern here near where we are. We will hopefully be able then to see how things are developing and make informed decisions as things become clearer, or at the very least, the longer road ahead and Cambodia's situation/roadmap has more clarity.

UPDATE

We have made our plans and arrangements and all is in order and in line.

We will be heading for the Kingdom of Wonder at the beginning of next week. We have had much useful contact from people here on the forums following my initial post, and from co workers at our upcoming place(s) of work. All these have been very useful at guiding our decisions and options as well as making sure we do all things the best we can to be aware and prepared. Fingers crossed for our adventure and travel.

We are very excited at making this a reality and I will amass as much information about the process as possible for other folk who are looking for info on experiences. It seems we may even know which hotel they are placing UK passport holders in for quarantine, though this is only a 70/80% thing. We will wait and see. The road map is in place and we should see how things unfold over the coming weeks.

Either way, it's full steam ahead. Thank you again to all who posted in the thread and contacted us. We couldn't have been as prepared without your help, advice, guidance and warnings.

Cheers! :D

Yep, all UK passport holders are lucky enough to be sent to the Okay Boutique Hotel...this was initially because of the UK Covid variant, but seems to be the norm now...for the rest of us, its luck of the draw.
