things that expel probably less.

perhaps if you would eat that coils, otherwise, I cant imagine its so bad?
do you use them inside ?
I don't have the link handy, but apparently burning one coil in your bedroom at night (which is what we were doing) is the equivalent of smoking 80-200 full tar cigarettes, depending on brand and type of coil. I found the research, you could too.
Lose the coil and take up smoking.

It would be gentler on the system.

DEET's not so healthy either :http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DEET#Effects_on_health
They recommend that you wash it off between use and don't use it under clothes. I don't suppose sleeping in it is that great for you...
Mosquito coil in your room when you're out, then fan when you get back and keep the place shut.

And thanks for that SC. I feel so much better about smoking :beer3:

Always breaking the string or whatever we use to tie it up. It's annoying too. Missus and I both prefer no net. I just walk around the house, close the doors, light a coil in the living room, go to bed. AC drives a lot of em away, we keep it cold. Thru like your hanging clothes.

SC - you should get one of these - it worked a treat - the principle is that the surround of the fan source is coated with titanium dioxide which releases CO2. The mozzies are attracted to it, as well as a uv light (barely noticable) and they get trapped in the basket.
There was a place in PP that sold them, maybe they are more common now there.
Once I had one of these, at least in the room, seldom got bitten!
Didn't cost that much from my recollection!

Yeah but Malaria & Dengue are nothing to sneeze at. The majority of studies show that DEET has little effect on adult's health. Every drug has side effects for at least a small % of the population. 8 deaths between 1961 & 2002. Look at all the people that will drop dead if they eat a peanut or something cooked in peanut oil. Should we ban peanuts ? Shit, 10 years ago the strongest you could get was 20% in the US & now 100 is available. Do you think they changed the previous ruling because they found DEET to be MORE dangerous ? This is from the Agency For Toxic Substances & Disease Regisitry - "The U.S. EPA estimates that 30% of the U.S. population applies DEET every year. In the more than 45 years that DEET has been used in the U.S., reports of adverse effects in humans associated with the dermal application of DEET have been relatively rare, given the billions of applications of the repellent. Case reports of toxicity from DEET exposure have been documented in the medical literature, and range in severity from mild skin irritation to death." http://www.atsdr.cdc.gov/consultations/ ... fects.html
