infinity insurance stickers seem to be on a fair few bumpers around town.. not sure if they do bikes, but they seem like a reputable company.

$30 - $60 is around normal per month, the newer the more expensive obviously

Rates really haven't changed for rental of scoots for a very long time

I don’t want to derail the original thread, but since others have already touched on the subject of insurance, I’d like to ask what, if any, experiences members have had regarding traffic accidents in Cambodia.
Insurance would seem to be optional here, with insured drivers/riders being in the minority.
I’ve read plenty of reports of fender benders and minor injuries (scrapes and bruises) where the two parties (together with the police acting as mediators) have agreed on compensation.
Others where one party has been arrested pending criminal charges (usually when someone has been badly injured or worse) but never any cases mentioning actual insurance claims.
Anyone?

Someone was telling me about a moto rental app, you just pay for what you use.
I'm not 100% certain of the details but I think you find the nearest moto with an app and then you just park it when you're finished your trip. It locks with some sort of code so when you want to use a bike, you just find the nearest one on the app and they send you a code to unlock it.

Someone else will have more details but it may be worth looking into.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

Here's a very general view.

What I would have insurance for is to avoid the "local takes advantage of barang" by trying to pull something on me, like claiming his bike with a broken headlight had $500 of damage or something like it. It's like having an accident mediator available in case it happens and you need someone to negotiate for you.

Although it's never happened to me, I've known of several people who have taken out their insurance card after a minor wreck, and the other person just took off (bike or car) because they didn't want to deal with it. This is only according to the teller of the story, but a similar story came up from multiple people I know.

As for payouts or thefts I have not heard of any stories though on whether it's worked or not.

I give infinity good marks. Standard car comprehensive coverage is 25 k per car up to 5 cars involved. Forte and caminko is 10k total.

I had an accident years ago...some moto twat no lights and a side cart with no reflectors. I was passing a slow car and could not see the moto twat til the last second. That lucky fucker had a scrape verses full on death. I called Infinity and they literally told me to run away for my life. Go figure. I did not run. Got the police and sangkat...got towed to the police house miles away....took some hours of statementa...then a 30km ride back by the police to pnh at like 4am. I gave him 10 bucks. All smiles.
Anyway, Infinity arranged to fix my car, the other car and the moto. 50 usd deductible.
IME

not sure about motos....but remember when in rome.....run if someone is really hurt or dead...lest ye suffer mob justice.

Yes, Infinity 3rd party insurance, cover's you if you're in a accident with another vehicle or person.
Don't forget what ever happens, it's going 99% that it's the barang's fault, in the eye's of the Khmer bystanders, and the police, the usual answer the barang should not have been there. So end result with a crowd of people hovering around you and the police, your going to pay! But then again now you pull out your insurance card/doc's.
Could be a small thing or, a full on scrape down the side of a new Ford. Also cover's injury and death. Now I read some where that if you cause a death, you would be expected to pay $12,000. The insurance cover I have is $30,000 on the event of death. So in theory for any action you should be covered by the insurance. If you want to insure yourself you have to add on. I also don't know if the insurance company will pay out, again I have read something that says that they do, if they don't, why would people take out insurance with them?
Always "hope" but never "expect".
