Anyone know a good doctor knowledgable about arthritis-like complications caused by Chikungunya?

Don't know about Tiger balm, maybe, will help if you have aches in your joints, and muscle's, voltaren is good also, but DON'T put Tiger balm on when you have just got out of a hot shower ,the bloody stuff will burn you. Let your body cool down first . If it might be gout, start eating cherries, fresh or tin, jar, or juice will do,cherries are very good for gout ,they love inflammation in joints. Stay safe

Do not take medical advice from random people on the internet. (No matter how well-meaning.) Note that you should not take aspirin or ibuprofen if you think you have dengue or chikungunya.

Re: Anyone know a good doctor knowledgable about arthritis-like complications caused by Chikungunya?
I have had somewhat similar pain symptoms but from a different condition. I am not a doctor and I do not advise anything but my experience may or may not be relevant. I developed very severe pains throughout my body and found it extremely difficult to move at all. I believe the condition is referred to as Arthralgia. At first my doctor suggested paracetemol but I have always found this to be ineffective. Paracetemol combined with codeine as in Miralgine is more effective. He also said that I must drink a minimum of 3 litres of water per day. Anyway after several weeks I stopped all medication altogether. After that the pain gradually faded away. So far it has not come back. My doctor has now recommended a level 2 painkiller if the pain returns - Tramadol. This is a powerful opioid pain killer widely available.
Above all do not take anything unless your doctor recommends it - especially do not take combinations of medicines. Ibuprofen for example is forbidden for some conditions. In terms of finding a doctor I have always found that Cambodian doctors are no better or worse than elsewhere. If they are unfamiliar with your condition they should refer you to somebody who is. Bear in mind that at a private clinic they may be reluctant to refer you because they lose your money. You may like to go to a hospital where there are specialists - e.g. Calmette where they will not hesitate to refer you if needed. If you do not speak Khmer I have found that most doctors speak English and often French but its best to bring a Khmer speaking person with you for clarity.

There's no itching. I am talking about chronic arthritis nine months after Chikungunya infection limiting range of movement in the knees, as well as lost "knee strength" and giving the sensation of paralysis when getting up after sitting for a longer period of time.
I might try methotrexate (given once a week in a low dosage, unlike when it's used in chemo), which has been cited in Chikungunya studies.

Hence my quest to find a doctor that knows this condition and can help. I'm not soliciting medical advice from non-doctors but such is the nature of forums.CEOCambodiaNews wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 2:38 am
