ANTS EVERYWHERE! I need Boric Acid - anywhere in central PP?

Seriously, get a cat, you'll never have a problem again.
Once you've read the dictionary, every other book is just a remix.

ANTS EVERYWHERE - GOOD NEWS UPDATE
Hello Everyone.
I came to the forum to ask a question and remembered this post and thought an update would be good manners.
Still completely ant free. I do keep the place cleaner, wiping up bread crumbs, or any food really. But it would appear the boric acid killed the nests and the job is - for now - still done.
Ant-Free is a possibility!
I also don't get many roaches, maybe one every two months? But maybe I'm just lucky, because I can't stand those ba*tards.

Yes, but the cat will kill geckos and everything else that moves. I am happy that we got rid of any cats here in the neighbourhood. Not that it is way more silent at night, the population of geckos is slowly recovering, which are happy to help reduce other insects. For the mice and rats we have life traps, which works extremely reliable, more reliable than previously with the cats. For the Rats this is quite surprising, since they are usually quite smart animals. Cockroaches are to be found, where there is water. In those months a bit tricky to avoid, true, but the sticky trap mentioned more early or just smashing them works usually quite well (if you erase or at least minimize their breeding ground as well). To get back to the ants: I had several populations of several species. In the end, I arranged with the fact, that there will always be ants, no matter what you try or do (even if the last post stated a success, but it is just a matter of time). So I trained the orange ones to keep me all the other species away, which I find way more difficult to control.
Driving on Cambodian roads is just like playing a classic arcade top scroller. The only difference is a force feedback controller, the limitation to only one life and the inability to restart, once Game Over

It's been just under eight months now and I still do not have ants. A combination of killing the nests and not leaving food crumbs etc around seems to have done the job. And if a different breed of ants, or a new nest appears, I'll lknow just to find out what they like, mix it with Boric Acid and kill the nests.
I think it's been a success - it's lovely.

I am under attack again. Major building works nearby have disturbed a lot of nests and they seemed to be on the move.SlackWaster wrote: ↑Sat Aug 05, 2023 11:05 pm It's been just under eight months now and I still do not have ants. Talk me through the steak/water/boric acid recipe please. I have some beef in the fridge, but it's the good stuff. I could get some local road kill at the market and stick it through the grinder. What's the meat to water to acid recipe.
Cheers.

Ants and I have a love-hate relationship ... strange as that sounds. They are so interesting to me. I love to sit and watch them do their ants business. But when they start getting too bold ... I have to lay down the gauntlet.
So I find out the entrance and the target ... then I attack those spots with plain dish detergent. No pesticides needed. Cheap easy way to let them know the party is over. Tried them all ... including boric acid and mini blow torches ... but the detergent seems so far the be the best way so far.

When people talk about ants in Cambodia, do they mean actual ants that bite you, the things we get in western countries also (or at least in the UK, especially in the summer) or do they mean those things that are about a quarter of the size but don't bite you and are just more of an annoyance?
I have suffered with the smaller ones, which I call ants, but I don't think they actually are ants. I'm not even sure if they're related to ants (the biting types). I don't think I've ever seen the biting types in Cambodia.
As for the smaller annoying ones, they usually walk in a line on a specific route, which you have to follow back and find where their access point is. Then I usually attack it with half a can of Raid. Sometimes works for a while, but they will often just find another route in.
I think it helps to work out what they're after. They work on scent, so something with a scent is attracting them. It's worth going to Bangkok shop and buying some cheap airtight containers to keep food in that's been opened. Also, keeping as much of your food in your fridge as possible helps too I find.

The difference between animals and humans is that animals would never allow the dumb ones to lead the pack.

The little buggers show up erratically; they LOVE protein powder, have to keep it in the fridge. I just spray them with Windex. Kills on contact.

I think they have hacked my computer. I got up this morning and they have gone. Not one in sight.
Seriously though, I have been doing a bit of wiping down everything with Mr Muscle spray, and spraying (but not wiping away) under things like the microwave. Maybe bleach is on their list of dislikes.

Use Vinegar on their trails to get rid of the chemical markers they lay down.
