Anti-mosquito plants ?

Post by Anchor Moy »

I'm looking for some plants that repel mosquitoes that I could grow on the balcony. In temperate climates they use geraniums - pretty sure they wouldn't grow in Cambodia though.
So, does anyone have any handy hints on something that I could grow in a pot here ? Lemongrass perhaps ?

Yup, Lemongrass. At my old place, the mosquitos of the neighborhood came over for a dinner reception and liked to stay for breakfast.
Right now I am sitting in a room with an open door and no screens. Not one caller :) 3 rows of Lemon grass around the wall do the trick. I would not believe how well it works had I not made this experience.

Yep, definitely lemongrass. Very easy to grow also, and handy to have fresh for when cooking.

Yeah, they really are a problem. We've taken to sleeping with a net now as you just can't seem to get all the little bastards.

There was a recent article on about drug-resistant malaria - probably in the CD. I was going to post it but the site wasn't working at the time.

Anyway here's something similar, although I think the original did mention Cambodia.
