2/ Contacted 2 Visa places yesterday including East West. Both places told him that since July 1 this year, the Australian govt. won't accept visa applications from 3rd party agents. Apparently to much dodgy shit had been going on over the years. Understandable I s'pose.
Will places like East West still prepare the applications and paperwork for you and let you walk it over to the embassy, or have they stopped providing any visa services at all relating to Australia?
My understanding was that they provide no visa related services for Australians anymore. Mind you, that came from a conversation between my mates Cambodian wife and a Cambodian in the office at East West, as we were told there was no English speaker there at the time.

I used Luke Gorham from Aussie visas, he is an Aussie based in Sydney / Bangkok. And is an Australian trained lawyer.

For my first tourist visa (subclass 600) for Cambodian girlfriend (she worked at 'simply the best' on street 130 at the time), he arranged all the paperwork including writing a stat declaration of the relationship.
Submission of the documents was done in person by my girlfriend to the embassy in phnom penh and all went smoothly.

The reason why could be cause they were never ever registered as visa agents with the Australian

Thank you for your enquiry

Our website www.mara.gov.au has a list of all Australian registered migration agents. The agent name you provided was not found on our register. This person is not currently registered as a migration agent in Australia.

In Australia, a person who provides immigration advice or assistance must be registered with us. A migration agent who practices solely from overseas is not legally required to be registered, however we do encourage overseas agents to become registered.

The Offshore ID number you refer to is not a migration agents registration number. The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) sometimes gives the overseas agents they deal with an ID number, which is used for administrative purposes and does not confer any benefits. More information about this is on the DIBP website: http://www.immi.gov.au/FAQs/Pages/migra ... ralia.aspx

Raz was never registered or recognised as an immigration advisor by the Australian Immigration Dept, even though he claimed he was.

Hmm. Very interesting and I will add my two cents. I paid Raz too much about three years ago for the application for the 309 partner visa. The partner and two daughters. It was a fraught process because the fathers of the two girls had to sign a release.
After about a year it seemed impossible, the father of the youngest child was in Thailand. Raz suggested spending thousands on lawyers. Instead I told Immigration that neither myself or the Australian Government should be involved in corruption.
The problem was resolved, I awaited the visas for another year! I went to Phnom Penh two years after applying through Raz expecting the visas.
I got the call from Immigration in Phnom Penh. We asked Raz one year ago to supply police reports for you and your partner from Cambodia! So east fucking west ignored this basic requirement for a year!!!
Jumped through more hoops and a couple of months later got the call from my contact in Immigration Phnom Penh. Total time elapsed two years. One can apply for permanent residence two years after applying for the 309 visa!
Anyway this chap in PP said we want you to rob in Raz. The government is sick of unregulated Cowboys in the game.I never did anything about it but I was disappointed at the incompetence and lack of interest by Raz in my situation. He was totally uncaring.
Now I know that navigating the process oneself is not that difficult.
Here in Agents must have tertiary qualifications and they are regulated. And their service is excellent. A friend recently asked visa advice from two agents. Both gave him the best advice. One charged $75, the other was free!

A mate of my mine went to the translation shop opposite Larry's and they offered to get him an Oz tourist visa for his Khmer gf for $150 plus embassy fees. I feared the worst but it came through fine. That was earlier this year, maybe new Embassy rules have blocked this now.
