amusingly enough, my post there welcoming them got deleted with no pm message... isn't that a violation of their rules now?

Seriously in full melt-down mode over there right now.
Well, Scobie just confirmed that he will be taking Khmer440 even further back to the KiR days.
K440 is clearly just for the owners and their tiny circle of drinking buddies that like circle-jerking online together.
Ha! And you weren't joking! LL calls you a cunt, and YOU get banned! Wow, Khmer440 deserves Scobie.
Well said.Soi Dog wrote:It seems several posters who initially left K440 (or were kicked out) to join CEO, and then quickly got fed up with CEO only to return triumphantly to K440 and welcomed back there with open arms have now again angrily left K440 (or were kicked out) to rejoin CEO.
I welcome (or welcome back) anyone who genuinely contributes to this site in a positive way. We need more thread-makers who add interesting/newsworthy and discussion-provoking posts. We need less comments about ourselves, each other and K440. I have admittedly been as guilty of the later as anyone, but enough is enough. Let's enjoy our little forum for what it is and move forward.
Yeah, while we appreciate everyone who's stayed onboard CEO from the beginning through thick and thin, I can't blame those who left at some point to check out Khmer440 again to see how the new ownership was doing. But I guess everyone can now see that the new ownership hasn't really done the site or its members any favors.
I just hope Scobie and his buddies are happy now. He probably bought himself the most expensive hobby in Cambodian history, so he had better get some joy out of it. He should have shown his receipt to the Guinness Book of World Records officials while there were here reporting on the biggest sticky rice snack thingy, LoL.
Ha! ! ! And I see them threatening EdinWiggan with a ban too! Jesus!
One thing interesting that I've noticed: Members who leave K440 to join CEO seem to make a noticeable improvement when they come over. They seem to make an effort to be better contributors here than they were over there. Including LL, Vlad, etc... They kind of seem to take it as an opportunity to start from scratch and not bring their problems with them.
Scobie needs to realize that CEO's initial success was largely to do with people being fed up with KiR, and they came to show that they could be good contributors if given the opportunity.
A perfect example for this is/was LexusSmexus. He publicly said that one of the main reasons he came over to CEO and went out of his way to contribute here more than he was on K440 was to spite KiR.
Seems Scobie is likely to go down that same road with the way he treats members.
And as Rain Dog has pointed out, we've no doubt made mistakes along the way to get this far, but no doubt we've learned from them.
And I'm with you, Soi Dog. Anyone is welcome here. CEO is not just for our drinking buddies. It's for everyone who wants to fuck around online and chat about Cambodia, etc. You and I have never met, and you've been VERY critical of CEO at times, but we've always appreciated what you've had to say, and we've never had secret Mod discussions to ban you or anything, LoL! Silliness.
Anyways, have they listed the unwanted members they've banned, or is that secret?
Ha! I even saw Duncan trying to sell his Karma over there! LoL, no doubt he got a private warning!

"He won't be replying LL. Neither will a few others who have trolled and contributed nothing but shit and negativity and discord over the last few weeks."
Before he went back and justified himself a bit.

OD and LL were debating the existence of a clique. LL demanded evidence in terms of a single thread. I pointed out the evidence on the last 20 pages of the destitute Brits thread of the usual suspects gang-banging and "liking" each others posts. LL -- not being smart enough to actually offer a reply, called me a "tediously boring c^nt" Scoobz responded -- "don't worry he will not be replying as will not several others".
I tried to log in -- permabanned lol
Full meltdown mode over there on the whingy "under-moderating" thread LL started.

The Rum pours strong and thin. Beat out the dustman with the Rain Dogs;
I thought their new policy, as of a while ago when they posted the rules, was that mods would PM you when they deleted your posts. Could be confusing it with ours (which we've maintained from the start)... but I thought it was one of the things scoby copied off of us.LTO wrote:Not sure I completely understand, but I'm pretty sure there is no rule requiring mods send a PM when they mod something. Or perhaps I misunderstood you. Did you mean something else?
If it was, I missed it. When I read your post above I went back to 440 to read the forum/mod guidelines, which i've never really read carefully before, and it specifically says that mods will not necessarily explain every mod decision.OrangeDragon wrote:I thought their new policy, as of a while ago when they posted the rules, was that mods would PM you when they deleted your posts. Given that it didn't violate any rules and was on topic, one would expect it to qualify as "particularly appropriate to provide an explanation".3) As a general rule, the moderation team can't and shouldn't be expected to explain every moderation decision made. Moderating decisions will be made in order to enforce the posting guidelines already outlined. Having said that, where it seems particularly appropriate to provide an explanation for a deletion or an edit, we will try to provide one, either in PM or on the affected thread. This will be at our discretion.
