Will New York Turn Red?

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

Will New York Turn Red?

Post by violet »

I’m aware that US politic threads aren’t welcomed with open arms so I’ve put this in Asinine.

US political scene is DIRE. Same people’s names time after time. This is one of the key reasons the support for Trump grows and grows.

Mid terms - Will New York turn red?

What shocks will occur from voting?

P.s. Vote!
Despite what angsta states, it’s clear from reading through his posts that angsta supports the free FreePalestine movement.

Biden will lose his seat while attending the ASEAN meeting, and seek refugee status here in Columbia 🙃

No way NY turns red. The most populated areas are all democratic in NY. NYC-- Upstate is where it is more red. When I think of NY, it's always the 5 boroughs but it is obv bigger then that.

I can imagine the huge increase in crime in NYC would help the GOP, but I am not too hopeful.

smh. there isn;t a huge amount of crime in NYC. it's false dude. I live here. I live in Brooklyn. Of course there is crime like in every other city. I agree that just because I do not encounter crime-- doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I am just saying it gets tiring of hearing the same bullshit description of a city from people who do not live in it.

I can rephrase " in my opinion" there isn't a huge amount of crime in nyc. I guess you disagree but again, you read about an area and I actually live in the area.

New York results always come in first from the outer red areas, not the main heavily downtown blue areas.

if Biden loses the house, than he loses any chance of getting anything done in his next 2 years

Recent NYPD stats would disagree.
https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/ne ... -nypd-says
Murders, shootings and several other crimes increased significantly across the five boroughs in July 2022 compared to the same time last year, according to NYPD statistics released Friday.
The number of murders across the five boroughs in July leaped from 35 last year to 47 in 2022, an increase of 34.3%, NYPD data shows. Driven by upticks in Brooklyn, southern Queens, and Staten Island, the NYPD recorded 178 shootings in July, up 13.4% from 157 a year before, police said in a press release.
Six of the seven major index-crime categories saw increases, with the only category decreasing being rape (-4.3%). Grand larceny spiked 40.6% (4,588 v. 3,262) in July compared to last year; robberies jumped 37.2% (to 1,730 from 1,261), and burglaries increased by 25.6% (1,325 v. 1,055), the police department said in a press release.
By the way, I used to live in Queens.

Unsure if matters but those numbers were down because of covid? then covid and restrictions were lifted. That may be a reason for the increase

2ndly-- the percentages are misleading--- dude it went from 35 to 47 ... thats an increase of 12. your talking 12 more instances!!! lol. every instance is bad but that number is an increase of 12. Not 100 not 500 .. 12

Deep into Queens out near Forest Hills.

There was a greater increase in crime in NYC in 2020 during the Summer of Floyd. Some crimes have decreased in following years, but the New Normal is a Bad Normal.
https://www.nyc.gov/site/nypd/news/p010 ... d-low-2020
New York City and its Police Department were buffeted by conflicting forces in 2020, as a historic low in overall index crime was accompanied by significant upticks in homicides, shootings, burglaries and car thefts.
At the same time, the NYPD in 2020 confronted a + 97% (1,531 v. 777) increase in shooting incidents and + 44% increase in the number of murders (462 v. 319)
Yeah, it's only murder. Nothing too important.
