My FB war with UNICEF on their claim

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

a classic !

chinese students outsmart the locals while the locals having low IQ can only resort to cheating to bribing the schools, you can see the same sh-it all over south east asia.

but because of the concept of "face" they will go overboard to conceil the ugly truth.

and who can blame them, after all in asia the top jobs always go to the ones with better "guanxi", meritocracy doesn't exist, and when the shit hits the fan they will blame their junior staff who in turn will proceed to make self criticism in order to save face and case closed, business as usual.

but you know what, we barangs should not give a shit about all this mess, the more they fuck up the better for us.

When I taught in China I found the best performing kids earn a discount on their school fees - some of the poor buggers would start trembling if they only got 95% on a test score because the logic was that they'd taken money from their family.

Oh Mr Chicken, why are you so prickly?

And what in the world is this important topic doing here in the Asinine Arena? FC's concern about self serving UNICEF stats, while aggressively put, is quite valid. NGOs pushing bs stats to generate funds is not an unknown practice here to be sure. Just a couple of weeks ago (Childens Day or something) UNICEF was tweeting that there is something like a quarter million Cambodian child laborers involved in illegal work, and now 95% go to school. Hmmm.

Anyway, I would begin by asking where specifically the stat came from and how it was generated. Ask for a link. May be a bad study. May be a fabrication. Maybe we'll be surprised.

Actually I posted it here for no particular reason. Well there is, I received a PM in my 'other' inbox on Facebook to "mind your own fucking business, you know nothing." And wanted to hear people thought about the claim.
