Re: Wanting the Police Arrested...Geoge Floyd Case
this escalated and there was no reason for it>
He was peaceful, they searched him, no weapons. How much trouble would it have been to say,"hey, you should not be driving, let us give ya a ride home" surely a lot less trouble than booking him, all the paperwork, hassle for both of them, only for him to be released the next day..
BUT no, they needed to arrest him an than it got out of hand, he wrestled with him, stole a taser an got away,
the cop got up, pissed off and chased him and said, ( in his head), "ur not getting away" and shot him
This is why the mentality of the police needs to be redefined. What is their primary purpose?
Make arrest or make the community safe?

In theory, both. Arresting him would make the community safer. Removing a drunk driver who passed out in the drive-thru helps the community at large.

and this is why the U.S. is in chaos right now. because there’s a ton of people who believe that being drunk and falling asleep in a car means you must also be psychotic and violent if you’re black.Big Daikon wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 10:02 amReally? I’ve been roofied in Cambodia twice, and all I can say is thank God I wasn’t black trying to order a cheeseburger at a Wendys in Atlanta.

Yes, except the black man was quite violent and non-compliant.

finish_money wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 7:28 amAgree. There’s an 88 minute video of body cam footage that shows the entire thing starting from the moment he fell asleep in the drive thru window. He was drunk and it’s possible to argue whether being shot with a taser warrants a deadly response (I don’t believe so, especially when a person is running away). But what’s impossible to deny is that the man should still be alive. For whatever reason, instead of getting the man’s keys and then getting him home safely, the goal was to arrest him. And why is arresting people such a priority when a person is drunk, isn’t carrying any weapons of any kind, hasn’t demonstrated any behavior that would be considered dangerous, and also assuming you can successfully take their keys? This is what people are talking about when they say “defund the police.” Police budgets are severely bloated, and maybe we could have sent a social worker to the scene instead. It might not be the answer, but clearly we need to start doing things differently.phuketrichard wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 5:19 pmHe was NO risk to anyone so why shoot him to kill him? Why has no body thought of him being a wanted fugitive for anything .
Yes , he took a weapon and fought the cops and ran ..
shoot him in the legs , but don’t let him get away to look for him anywhere later !
He might not be there

Have you seen this guy's rapsheet? If it's same Mr brooks. Cops no way giving this guy a ride home. Especially if they got a family Social worker industry might be lacking candidates near future if this becomes their new role . The cop did address him "my man" slang. That might justify brooks actions as far as racism goes here in the near futurefinish_money wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2020 7:28 amAgree.
