"Unrelated to my Faith?" Say What?

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

Tim Linkinwater wrote:Well Strops, I don't have much time for evangelists of any creed, but what you are doing sounds fine to me.

I have a mad uncle who does the same thing in Yemen (scary as fuck I should think) and he mostly just educates people about food hygiene, child health and the digging of good latrines that are not next door to the kitchen out in the villages.

So good luck to you.

(BTW, a quietly Catholic friend of mine complains about the shit she gets from secular evangelists, so it's not just the religious peeps.)
Tim, the problem here is all the missionaries say the same exact thing. They say they never proselytize precisely because they know all too well that most people disapprove of that activity. Without a doubt, Stroppy and his crew, teach, organize, build, etc. but...it is solely a way to get close to people for conversion. As Stroppy finally revealed - it is the 1st, the very 1st requirement of all members of his cult - spread the message and convert. This is clearly stated and how does mere "helping" people compare with the saving of their soul? Not at all...obviously...

Stroppy, deep in his faith-blinded rationalization, sincerely feels that he isn't lying...but he is. What is more important to him - teaching a class or converting a person to his cult? He will use whatever techniques to accomplish conversions. All other activities of church members pale in urgency and he will tell you that if pressed for the truth. Right, Stroppy?

I am not a proponent of religious people, but in defense of Mr Stroppy, he doesn't bring his belief into the argument.

LOL! But you got my reference, so that's the main thing... and put me in the same basket as The Machine Gun Preacher if you want some context.

Thanks, FC, but Tim is referring to his uncle in Yemen. Those guys put themselves in real harms way, so we're sharing a joke about spending some family time while he still can.
