“I had so much fucking money – you have no idea,” Lucas says, riding around Harlem, his heavy-lidded light-brown eyes turned to the sky in mock expectation that his vanished wealth, long since seized by the Feds, will rain back down from the heavens.

I watched the old Hollywood cute and cuddly, "American Gangster" last night .
Lucas and his crew never got on the radar much where i came from. Just a shady dark tale from a place that was more distant than Mars for us to even imagine in those days, Harlem.
So the movie sent me back to basic research.
The film of course was 99% bullshit - not to mention polishing the turd.

Anyway, this is not a bad read..


The Return of Superfly Frank Lucas, once the city’s biggest, baddest heroin kingpin, now seems like just a very likable guy. Don’t be fooled.
