Not wanting to derail this thread - it's worth having a conspiracy thread, maybe - but Savile was the best unpublicised, worst kept secret for decades. Literally ALL of Fleet St knew what the sick cunt was up to, as did just about everyone who was in UK showbusiness.

And tangential to him and that is that creepy hag, Esther Rantzen. The woman who was the public face and patron of an abused childrens' charity and helpline who admitted to knowing (at the very least) what he was up to and doing nothing. There have also been some dark rumours about her, too, with things not being what they seem at all. A lot of the sites this info was on have now gone down the "Page Not Found" hole, so I'm not sure I could unearth it again but there was quite a lot of suggestions that she should be investigated herself.

The conspiracy I remember on MJ's death was he owed a lot of back tax and faked his death, quick search shows the estate might have to pay 700 million in back taxes and penalties, so guess it wouldn't have worked anyways.
