Sunday: Are we so anti-Christian we're turning pro-Islam?
Re: Sunday: Are we so anti-Christian we're turning pro-Islam
Yep. I still quite strongly disagree with OD banning Dags to help out Stroppy --- but that is water under the bridge now. As mentioned on a previous post I really respect the fact he has dealt with criticisms from multiple places patiently and transparently. I admittedly can be very persistent. A lot of Mods would be in a deleting/banning frenzy by now. x2 this as I forgot he is also organizing his move now. In fact next time I see him I will post some +Karma his way even though I disagree with him.General Mackevili wrote: Definitely!
So, OD made a controversial call, banning Daggers for 24 hours.
We are both new admin, and we will both undoubtedly make unpopular calls sometimes. I can't even say I agree with Daggers banning, but it was only for 24 hours. OD did why he thought he should do at the time, and has explained his reasoning publicly.
At least he didn't go crazy like a tooth-ached admin and delete shit, or delete our beloved Daggers.
I really like that everyone on this thread has just sucked it up and gotten over the whole banning incident and is still posting on here.
We may make unpopular choices from time to time, but we welcome feedback on it and don't go around banning and deleting anyone and anything we don't like.
Many of us know each other in person, and I like it when things get a little heated from time to time, and there will be times we have to decide at a moments notice if something has gone too far.
I especially like Rain Dog's attitude on the whole thing. He felt no real lines were crossed, thus didn't even think of using the "report this post" feature. If he did feel a line was crosses he would have used it. Great attitude.
I also thought Stroppy was getting a little shitty too. I forget what, but sounded like he was throwing insults around. Meh, so what. Doesn't sound like anyone was really butthurt over anything he said. I can see why some might say he looked protected in this exchange, but we don't protect him, or anyone else for that matter. ...
As to Stroppy ---- I thought our exchanges were rather mild. It was mostly me trying to pin down his arguments and him trying to avoid being pinned down --- normal forum debate HiJinx as far as I am concerned. The thing that really pissed me off was his bringing up personal relationships (ex-Muslim Girlfriend -- failure my fault blah blah) which I thought was a particularly low and sleazy thing to do by the standards of any forum. I lost a lot of respect for him because of that but even there I cannot say I was "butthurt" (to use your term lol).
I think a lot of people think that long back and forths are bad for forums or imply anger or hate --- but hat is never the case on my part anyway.
If it is a problem, you might consider the suggestions I gave to Giblet about limiting sensitive topics here. I am fine with either approach "Warm and Fuzzy" or "Bare Knuckles Debates" as long as the playing field is level.
Cheers,
RD.

Because you quoted it !!! You quoted the post, then tried your smear stuff. If you don't want to debate something, then why try you and Dara's "plastic surgery of the forum" ????Rain Dog wrote: Not sure why you think I am obligated to respond to propaganda from a book I don't even own (and never would) from an ultra-fringe Christian Missionary in Africa who spends his time (when not bashing Muslims) bashing Gays in Africa.

Anyway, I'll take you're third refusal to comment on the actual piece as acknowledgement that you can't deny some of the stuff is true. I don't mean to rub your nose in your ignorance of the world , but here's some links which back up exactly what the piece says

FFS -- you quoted the book --- I pointed out the author was a Fringe Far Right Missionary in Africa who is famous for hating Muslims and Gays and whom even the Billy Graham Foundation dismisses as fringe and hate mongering. Why would I want to even read it much less debate it?UKJ wrote:Because you quoted it !!! You quoted the post, then tried your smear stuff. Thanks for helping to prove my point. Billy Graham is certainly no friend to Muslims ---- yet EVEN THEY dismiss the other author as hate-mongering and inaccurate.Joker Poker wrote:http://billygraham.org/about/what-we-believe/
No mention of support for Islam or homosexuals here.

Wait a minute, G-Mack...can I call AddJay an "intellectual"? He has 3 degrees plus a PhD after all...ha!General Mackevili wrote:Ok, let's STOP the direct insults (also known as name calling).
LMFAO!!! WHAT A TOOL BAG YOU ARE....see how stupid you are...sniffing your own farts cause you read a political piece of propaganda written by a "professor" of Princeton!! ... YOU MY FRIEND ARE A USEFUL MORON that is suckered into this none sense...
Everyone should feel free to argue here, but I will DELETE further name calling.
This is NOT to single ^ this poster out, but it's a damn good example of what I will be deleting in the future on this thread.
Thx all.
And please tell OD that I am not a "drinker", as you clearly know firsthand. You, or nobody else, aint never seen me close to drunk...that "Frisbee Boat" night I had a total of 2 beers (Sierra Nevada ) and 2 waters over a 3-4 hour period - the night that OD stated I was "stumbling drunk" near 136 bar...

Re: Sunday: Are we so anti-Christian we're turning pro-Islam
Do you actually know anything about the Billy Graham organisation?
Are you affiliated with them?
I hope you are not just using superficial stuff to fuel your argument here. As often is the case, what some radicals say is truthful and that is why others object to it.
Remember, Jesus was a radical who spoke the truth exposing the hypocrisy in his time, so the religious men of the day had him killed and tried to silence his followers.
I know nothing about the people getting slagged off here, but I always wonder when they get so many trying to silence them.

Love your stats here, Mate. So...based on the OZ ones I am guessing you agree with your dear friend and comrade SC about his assertion that OZ is turning Islamist any day now? By the way, it's currently 2.2% Muslim in OZ according to the official OZ stat site.UKJ wrote:Maybe if I break it down, and ask a specific question of Dara, who communicates under the counter, and RD who goes off on tangents. And maybe they could tell me where they live and if they have recently lived in any of the countries mentioned in the piece.
So. Is this wrong? This seems to describe where I live...........
Here's how it works:
As long as the Muslim population remains around or under 2% in any given country, they will be for the most part be regarded as a peace-loving
minority, and not as a threat to other citizens. This is the case in:
United States -- Muslim 0..6%
Australia -- Muslim 1.5%
Canada -- Muslim 1.9%
China -- Muslim 1.8%
Italy -- Muslim 1.5%
Norway -- Muslim 1.8%
At 2% to 5%, they begin to proselytize from other ethnic minorities and disaffected groups, often with major recruiting from the jails and among street gangs.
This is happening in:
Denmark -- Muslim 2%
Germany -- Muslim 3.7%
United Kingdom -- Muslim 2.7%
Spain -- Muslim 4%
Thailand -- Muslim 4.6%
From 5% on, they exercise an inordinate influence in proportion to their percentage of the population.
For example, they will push for the introduction of halal (clean by Islamic standards) food, thereby securing food preparation jobs for Muslims.
They will increase pressure on supermarket chains to feature halal on their shelves -- along with threats for failure to comply.
This is occurring in:
France -- Muslim 8%
Philippines -- 5%
Sweden -- Muslim 5%
Switzerland -- Muslim 4.3%
The Netherlands -- Muslim 5.5%
Trinidad & Tobago -- Muslim 5.8%
At this point, they will work to get the ruling government to allow them to rule themselves (within their ghettos) under Sharia, the Islamic Law.
Those are obviously huge numbers and allegedly 76% of the politicians in OZ are "Shadow Muslims" (they are hiding their religious affiliation) and are waiting in the wings for the coming " Radical Islamist Revolution".
Also, Murdock and Rinehart have both been seen recently kneeling on prayer rugs pointed toward Mecca. Even Abbot has been seen rubbing wooden Muslim worry beads in his sweaty slick hands....
The OZ Islamist Caliphate is coming...to a suburb near you...soon...

Roy Oksnevad, director of Muslim Ministries at the Billy Graham Center.
His reaction to the author's book was as follows:
"There is a growing body of what I call “Fear Literature” that is often perpetrated from the Conservative Right and in particular the Christian Conservative Right. It tends to center on acts of violence. The main thesis is that violence and other atrocities must have a theological root cause. This literature is fear-based with the perspective of desiring to preserve our present society from an “evil” takeover. This is an over simplification. Here is what I have found: The process of industrialization, modernization, and globalization has occurred irrespective of the influence of religion."
What part is so hard to understand?
Even the guy who is in charge of Evangelical efforts targeted at Muslims dismisses the book and it's genre from which it spawned.
