Resting Peacefully-Almost!

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

Resting Peacefully-Almost!

Post by takeoman »

The sun is just showing above the tree tops, when Mister Butch and I set out on our morning walk. Ovrhead wagtails and swifts whirl and play. The rains are now a distant memory and the lake is rapidly shrinking, more areas for Butch to re-explore. No sign today of the woodpecker or the kingfisher, perhaps with the receding water the latter has moved on.
A few cows are already grazing, and more are being taken out to the fields. Small children call out their one word of English "Hello", but luckily it is not yet time for their elder siblings to set of for school, so we are spared the barrage of "What is your name, where do you come from, how old are you?", all of which I must have answered thousands of time.
The small stalls which all sell the same things are begining to open. How any of them make a profit is beyond me.
I have the feeling that something is missing this particular morning. As if my thought was a cue, an amplified "Hello, Hello" shatters the peace and todays wedding gets underway.

Very poetic. I hope they have thoughtfully directed the loudspeakers in the direction of your quiet abode ?
Have a nice day. :D

They have indeed. To add insult to injury the person responsible for siting of said equipment is my brother in law. :hattip:

When I hear that litany of questions, I am always tempted to answer each one, but then I realized it's more like "How do you do?" in England , where you're not expected to respond with the actual state of your well-being...and chances are the little Cambodian kids wouldn't understand your reply anyway. So best just to respond with a pleasant "hello, how are you?" back and leave it at that.

The rote response they expect is "I am fine" so I hit them with "I am well, thanks" - that momentary look of panic is priceless.

LOL; he must think you need some "fun".
(Either that, or he is taking his revenge for that case of Klang that you owe him.)
