Pet peeves, niggles and minor annoyances
Re: Pet peeves, niggles and minor annoyances
I digress. The PC is a machine intended to process tasks for an individual. But I was commenting on laptops specifically as was John B.Username Taken wrote: ↑Fri Nov 24, 2023 4:12 pmThe 1964 Holden Commodore was well ahead of its time.

I was actually thinking there were laptop devices that weren't changing PCs at all. Like some sort of machine the military use to launch missiles or that nuclear football that presidents carry around with them.

Very creative Sir!John Bingham wrote: ↑Sat Nov 25, 2023 8:33 pm I was actually thinking there were laptop devices that weren't changing PCs at all. Like some sort of machine the military use to launch missiles or that nuclear football that presidents carry around with them.
But a laptop or a portable computer is really just short for a PC that's intended to move around.
There are portable platforms for launching missiles I'm sure but that's a different type of device as far as I know.

Sure, but it could feasibly be called a laptop if it has a screen and buttons and a hinge? Especially if it can only blow things up and you can't play games on it or look at TikTok videos?

I've been in a couple of heavily touristed places recently and have noticed the same. Weird sideways looks from tourists. Luckily I just completely blank them out, much like the stares of peasants, as I move about.

TV (UK) is increasingly focused on Christmas shite from sometime in September, along with supermarket aisles being reorganised for displays of stuff related. Christmas seems to end around spring time…

And Black Friday.
