Pet peeves, niggles and minor annoyances
Re: Pet peeves, niggles and minor annoyances
Chat With Us, customer service schemes are becoming more prevalent. No email, No contact phone, just Chat area. They can be frustrating and time consuming.

Bah! Humbug
Christmas. (Topical)
TV (UK) is increasingly focused on Christmas shite from sometime in September, along with supermarket aisles being reorganised for displays of stuff related. Christmas seems to end around spring time…
Where upon Easter takes over for several months…
And Black Friday.
(Black Fridays matter!)
Ads start sometime around Monday, and peter out around sometime near Saturday.

I have stopped going to my local hostelry since the beginning of November, because they are playing Christmas music. Hate it!!Freightdog wrote: ↑Thu Nov 23, 2023 5:23 pm Christmas. (Topical)

Definitely sick of Black Friday every year, and everyone jumping on the super sale band-wagon.

Black Friday is followed by Cyber Monday, then Christmas shopping. Ads are pushed onto every app on phone and computer.
We can choose not to go to the stores and avoid the ads. Unfortunately we can’t chose to unplug from our electronics shackles.
How else could we get to gripe on CEO?

In its day, yes. But I have a feeling yours was a rhetorical question.
IIRC the commodore 64 superseded the Vic-20 and I had a couple of friends who had one. Personally I started with a ZX-81 and moved to an Oric-48. The Oric wasn't as popular as the Spectrum but I found its graphics were more interesting in Hi-Res mode. I ended up with the BBC Micro and then had a break before getting my first DOS PC based on the SX-25 chipset.
But the term "PC" has always referred to a Personal Computer and there was a couple of computer magazines in the 80's where the term PC or Personal Computer was used in the title.
googled 80's PC mags after I posted and found this
