The way the 2nd Amendment to the Constitution is interpreted to guarantee ownership is a roadblock as well. The last line, "A well regulated militia, being the best security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed" The militia part always seems to be skipped over by the courts for some reason. I have no problem with rifles and shotguns. It's the automatic weapons and handguns that are the problem.

I've been to Hayden Lake and the area, and its really nice country with down to earth people. Just putting a weapon(pistol) in a purse is stupid and one without a safety (semi-auto pistol) or long trigger pull almost criminal. My carry pistol of choice was a AMT backup .45acp.(semi-auto 5 rounds) It had no safety as the trigger was the safety. It took three men and a cranky cub scout to pull the trigger.(you had to really want to pull the trigger!)

If the lady could afford to have a pistol and carry permit she should have had a pistol carry purse. It has a hidden velco flap and compartment for a pistol. Obviously she didn't attend the NRA course on gun safety. (that used to be in high schools until the flaming liberals got it banned, just like the God Fobber fought against sex education in schools.)

The one thing about American gun laws is its our laws and no matter how other countries people hate them and have had their rights taken away by their nanny-government, there is jack they can do about it except talk about it.

Our Pres, Bow-Rock (Obama-Iben-Laying) would love to sign the UN treaty taking away American's rights to keep and bear arms. Good luck on that one Bow-Rock!

BTW/ Trouble with Automatic weapons? Let me see now, since the transfer tax/stamp laws on automatic weapons was passed in the '20s, no licensed automatic weapon in America has been used to commit a crime by a transfer stamp holder. It is very difficult to transfer an auto weapon. I have a friend who was a "Class 3 dealer" and for a collector to buy a full auto weapon you have to jump through a lot of government hoops. Plus at a starting price of $10,000 (mostly a lot more) Joe blow off the street isn't going down to the Walmart and buy an armload. I usually try and research and know what I'm talking about before posting, but as Agent Mulder said "The truth is out there."

The NRA offers a wonderful gun safety course that used to be in High Schools (Eddy Eagle Program also), until the idiot flaming liberals got it thrown out. These are the same liberals that have made schools and universities targets of crazies by making them a no-legal-carry zones.

The one thing I agree on is that to own a weapon/gun, at least once in your lifetime you should have to take a gun safety course. I am sure the NRA would love to sponsor weapons/gun safety course's in every school. As a past Emergency Medical Tech in Alaska I've seen my share of gunshot wounds. Show the kids and people what a bullet can and will do to flesh as it isn't pretty. TV and Movies show the bangers shooting, but not what happens after the bullet leaves the gun. (what idiot thought up the holding a pistol sideways?)
