I think General Chatter is onto something.

K440 is much more draconian under scobienz than it ever was under KiR. Despite what people said about KiR, he seemed better at letting people speak freely. Sure, he ridiculed them and repeated his jokes on and on. But most importantly - people could speak freely. Nowadays users are being banned for possibly-being-somebody or witing-similar-to.

K440 feels much more like an elitist club than it did before. Especially since there are "guidelines" instead of rules. When GavinMac was taunting a Georgian man who had just lost his wife, the guidelines were nowhere to be found. When General Chatter asked a monk about buddhism it was apparently "asshat comments", as Joon worded it.

Even if General Chatter did get banned with other usernames previously, seeing the owner of K440 come here to CEO only to write things like "because of your previous crazy posting history using other IDs, most notably ###### and ######" is entirely unacceptable, and I am very happy that the CEO mods are sensible enough to forbid this outing nonsense.

One of the big reasons why people moved to CEO in the first place was because KiR posted PMs from OD's account, and now their new leadership is seriously coming here to out their own members' alternative aliases? Really fucking classy. You have no clue of how to run a forum and everybody wipes their ass with your "guidelines". Step off your high horses, look in the mirror and realize that K440 would not be remotely close to where it is today had it been founded under your leadership. All you did was flip the credit card, you're not impressing anyone.

For the record, the "asshats comments" referred to someone asking Ven. Nanda whether he owned a Waffen SS Shirt (because Ven. Nanda is German - and the comment was deleted) and Vladimir's comment about the laptop, iPhone 6 and Galaxy 5 (which is still there).

What you don't know too is that a lot of offensive comments by General Chatter and his previous incarnations have been deleted or removed, including an angry rant addressed to me in public. CEO management may feel that it's breaking their rules about sharing insults addressed to me in public before they were removed, but if you'd like, I can share them with you in private.

Is the rant still in public or did you delete it? I'm sure they wouldn't mind if you linked it or described where to find it.

If General Chatter had acted so badly in the past that his future posts would be deleted, why was he not banned? Did he rant and insult anybody in the posts that you deleted in the Venerable Nanda thread?

Joon what are you talking about. You are very rude at times. I try to avoid you most of the time.I think you got your mod job because someone wanted to be near to you. You are paranoid like Bendix. Really this term sock puppet you and others throw about with it's online meaning is something I learned this year.
Please try and relax it is hard being right all the time ask Gavin Mac....

It's a fine line when people use sockpuppets... especially when they've been banned as their original account for something and are using one to circumvent that. Sometimes, they're redefining themselves and becoming a better poster, so we let them go and try to not bring up the previous persona too much... lest the fall back into being it. Othertimes its just a ploy to jump around our ban in general and they have to be iced again.

GC is frequently skating on both sides of this line (in my opinion).

As for the outing, Scobienz didn't think about it as an "outing" to mention a user's previous names and has already apologized for the headache to me privately assuring us it won't happen again... which is somewhat understandable as we clearly know he's both scoby and bendix, and we all know general m is cambod, LL was Hanky, etc.

Where that line is can get confusing, and is generally mod discretion (thus why we usually give warning about it instead of anything harsher unless a pattern emerges of someone repeatedly doing it with intentional malice).

As for posting PMs from 440 over here, we generally frown on it. Even privately sharing them isn't really good form unless they are directly related to serious problems... which I don't consider name calling and such to be.
