Killing yourself with a selfie

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

Can feel the empathy here with another selfie craze : Selfie with a suicidal person.
When the 105 Freeway in Paramount was closed on Thursday evening because a man was contemplating a suicide attempt on an overpass, some Angelenos who were stuck on the road thought it would be the perfect time to take selfies.

Authorities received calls around 5:30 p.m. from drivers that there was a man threatening to commit suicide on the overpass...
One of the most shocking photos people took was this happy-go-lucky group posing in front of the overpass with the jumper in the background...

It's official - taking selfies makes you stupid. And the more you take the dumber you get. Indisputable proof here:
A man has quit his job to focus on breaking the world selfie taking record
He wants to take 1,800 photographs of himself in a single hour.
A man has quit his job so that he can focus on breaking the world record for the highest number of selfies taken of himself, according to local media in India.

Bhanu Prakash Racha, who lives in the city of Hyderabad, stepped down from his post as a research assistant at a local hospital so that he could practice taking the photographs.

“I wanted to focus on breaking the record,” he told the Times of India newspaper.

“I worked there for five months. But when my application got accepted, I decided to quit. My work hours were 10 am to 6 pm and that wouldn't leave me much time for practice...”
