Recently there was a situation where a group of people were assessed on their knowledge of their own ethnicity. Here are some answers:

Male, 25; My mom was filipina and my dad was Jewish.

Female, 19; My mom is mixed race- Japanese-Korean. My dad was Jewish.

Male, 23; My mom is Taiwanese and my dad is American. I was raised in a Jewish community.

Male, 37; My mom was American, my dad was Indian. My mom's parents were Jews originally from Poland, and my dad was an orphan.

Yes, obviously, a Jew is an individual which practices and believes in Judaism.

A gentile can choose to become a Jew & an ethnic Jew - a gentile, agnostic, atheist etc. Gentile just means non-Jew. You knew this already, you don't believe in search engines, or you have an agenda. Spit it out dude. I think all religions do good work, but their purpose is to shut off your brain to allay your fears of death. They all tell nonsensical fairy tails that honestly insult ones intelligence. Believing them is called 'faith'. These days science has shown that some have the 'faith gene' and some don't. I belong to the latter category and hope to be surprised before my expected dirt nap, but I assume that ain't gonna happen.

truth is:

if you have a jewish mother, you are a jew.
you can be all day atheist (etc.), but you will be always a jew. no way to get rid of it.
you may be considered a "traitor", most likely.

if you dont have a jewish mother, you are never a jew.
you may be a "convert", if you pass the numerous tests, but you will never be a jew - coz wrong mother.

What you're saying is understandable but the examples: mom filipina, dad Jewish, country we can assume is Philippines and Jew(?). I'm probably being silly now.
