Actually the worst news out of SR was a Khmer guy who killed 3 children in January.Jamie_Lambo wrote:Siem Reek has its fair share of shit news...TheGrinchSR wrote:Siem Reap gets a guy like this about once a year. PP and Snookie about once an hour. Who cares? He's not harming anyone - he's just a fucking mess. It's a bit different from beating a guy to death in your apartment and the whole town saying; "No, he's a top bloke - wouldn't harm a fly."
that Belgian Peadophile...
the girl that was beheaded in that guesthouse...
oh and them 2 expats that beat and robbed that english teacher that were also "top blokes"...

Having worked for tomato guest house in battambang I can assure you that the barang NGO helpers are the snobbiest prudent barang women I have ever come across they may look hot but damn they have attitude to go with it.frank lee bent wrote:Battambang seems to be NGO epicentre.
Even the restos seem largely to be funded training enterprises.
Near 99% of French in battambang have serious attitude problems too , almost seems they forget the country is no longer colonized by France.

Just one of their many faults.seems they forget the country is no longer colonized by France.
Their colonial system was infinitely inferior to our great Commonwealth, which continues to prosper.

from what i was reading earlier the Grinch had a point...Kuroneko wrote:I don't see that either, I have lived in PP for 20 years in pretty much every area. I go out most nights and certainly don't find the place in any way menacing, as it could be occasionally back in the '90's.There are plenty of nice places to live now (western style condos etc) and the majority are owned or rented by Khmer. In my condo for example, most of my neighbors are reasonably well off Khmer. Also the number of restaurants, wine bars and clubs have really mushroomed in the last year, making Phnom Penh a great place to be out at night. A large part of the clientele are also Khmer, which wasn't the case 20 years ago.John Bingham wrote:I'm not seeing this, and nobody else has mentioned it either.TheGrinchSR wrote: Phnom Penh has gone from a slightly colourful dump to a menacing place.
It's local people who have all this money, and who own the vast majority of property. They aren't going anywhere.I think it might have something to do with the influx of money and the gentle push to get rid of the locals who have made the place their home.
"around 3,500 families, which is the equivalent of 17,500 people, have been forcibly evicted form their homes surrounding Boeung Kak Lake since August 2008"
"Since 1990 approximately 11 percent of the population of Phnom Penh have been evicted from their homes or relocated to places that lack infrastructure and access to public goods."

NGO women are divided in to two groups; hot wide eyed students who are there for voluntourism, or dumpy women who are 65 in their late 20s and hate all men who visit Cambodia because "sex tourism boo hoo".bkktrapper wrote:Having worked for tomato guest house in battambang I can assure you that the barang NGO helpers are the snobbiest prudent barang women I have ever come across they may look hot but damn they have attitude to go with it.frank lee bent wrote:Battambang seems to be NGO epicentre.

Pretty much sums it up. Or give you dirty looks because you venture out with your girlfriend and her two kids. Makes me a sex tourist AND a pedophile. And that is before I crack open a beer.ot mien kampf wrote:NGO women are divided in to two groups; hot wide eyed students who are there for voluntourism, or dumpy women who are 65 in their late 20s and hate all men who visit Cambodia because "sex tourism boo hoo".bkktrapper wrote:Having worked for tomato guest house in battambang I can assure you that the barang NGO helpers are the snobbiest prudent barang women I have ever come across they may look hot but damn they have attitude to go with it.frank lee bent wrote:Battambang seems to be NGO epicentre.

They often have this strange expression that's somewhere in between looking frightened and being utterly disgusted.
Silence, exile, and cunning.
