Fact of the day

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

The Spanish word 'constipado' doesn't mean what you might first think it means.

Sailing club is a resort by the sea own by the westerner. It is nice actually, however paying 4 dollar for big bottle of water and 3 dollar for a can of Cambodia beer is really expensive. Not to mention food is also really expensive.

We went there because they have a beach volleyball court and playing beach volleyball is the main activity that we all came for. Good thing was that we didn't have to pay for the court.
haha i love cambodian logic, reminds me of when a group of 10 of us went to the infinity swimming pool at some resort up at the top of the mountain/hill in sihanoukville, we asked if we could use pool, and they said sure, but it will cost $4 each, but if we bought $40 worth of alcohol then we could use the pool for free...
so if we just use the pool it will cost us $4 each = $40
if we buy $40 alcohol the pool will be free $40÷10 = $4
so we could either just use the pool for $4 each,
or pay the same amount and get $40 of free alcohol + the Pool... :beer3:

Sailing club is part of the knai bong chatt resort.
I am sure Samouth has been reading Cambodian english press for a long time and should have known the resort is well known for being a very upscale Belgium owned millionaire beach house turned into a resort.
I don't go there myself but when I go to any upscale place I know that prices gonna be inflated.

As "embarazar" doesn't mean "to embarrass".

yeah any kind of sailing club is going to be sky rocket prices! i actually went to one at the end of last year when i visited New Zealand, my dads cousins son is the head chef at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron in Auckland, i was staying at his place for a few days before my flight back to cambodia, its a members only place but he booked me (and my friend who lives in Auckland) a table out on the balcony terrace with a free tab :good: , went for the (very expensive) steak :good: , the only thing that wasnt included was the drinks :sorry:

John Wilkes Booth had been given a presidential pardon by Lincoln for cattle theft only 14 months prior to the assassination.

It is different, there is no determined amount of money you have to spend in order to be able to play at the volleyball court. Everyone can play even though you just buy a can of beer from that resort. We all felt it would be so inappropriate, if all of us 11 people, playing there then didn't buy anything from there. So we decided to have lunch there.

However the place is really nice, but the foods were really disappointing.

I usually read Phnom Penh Post and periodically read The Cambodia Daily, unfortunately i have never come across with the article about that resort. However, during our trip to Kep, we had great breakfast at The Boat House. I would recommend that one. The new French owner and staff were really friendly and good foods with reasonable price.
