Re: Dude, Where's My Foot?
It looks to me like one of the MULTI DRUG RESISTANT (MDR) strains of bacteria that eat through the two layers of flesh and eventually make their way to and through the bone. If the disease progresses to that point amputation is the only option. His foot is in a very advanced stage of the disease and he will need the antibiotic administered via a drip system. Even if he gets the appropriate medication that foot will be many months or years healing.
By the way, according to the Cambodian the infection started after a cow stepped on his foot.

^^^This. Highly unlikely to receive proper care anywhere in Cambo. Add in a rural setting. I can fully empathize with that poor old man having suffered from a similar affliction, Pseudomonas Aeruginosa, which now is mostly healed after a year of medical treatment. Time is important with such infections and incompetent MDs and lost tissue specimens and a false diagnosis by Pasteur Institute did not help. Added to this the climate is a perfect environment for microbes. I shall be forever grateful to Dr. Modic of Mercy Clinic and. to Stroppy Chops who sent me there.
So while my situation is perhaps better than that old man's, I do live rurally, am not at all wealthy and know what it looks like to stare at an open festering hole in a partial foot.
