December 21, 2012.
Remember that Mayan end of the world thing?
End of the the long count calendar?

I never believed any of it, but I loved the hype.
As a survivalist prepper type, I enjoyed going through all the gear and getting ready just in case.
All preppers do.
It's about the hobby of it.
Living in that moment.
Those people aren't to be feared, regardless of what the govt wants you to think.

So I was vocal about that day.
We all laughed about it.
The day is coming my coworkers would tell me.

None of us believed it, but in those days I needed far less for an excuse to take the day off.

So the day prior I loaded up all the gear. I'll omit the packing list.
Took the day off from work.

Didn't really know what to do on the last night of the world.
I was single.
Had eight months of emergency supplies in my truck.

Figured I'd just go drink beer with my friends like I always did. So off I went on the 100+ mile trip out of state to visit my rural friends.

They had no idea what this 2012 thing was, but were somewhat concerned about my truck full of...beans and stuff.
I explained everything which they shrugged off, but I was paying for the beer so they humored me.

So we drank beer and did our thing.
At 1145 pm I told them, jokingly, that we only had 15 more minutes before the world would end so we should all take our beers outside and see what happens.

I don't know: Asteroid? Black hole? Nukes?
I didn't really care.
I was in my happy zone; beer; beans; 4x4; friends; etc.

So out we went.
Nothing unusual. Clear skies. Black. Quiet. Winter. Cold. Beer was cold.

Started the countdown.
One minute.
Thirty seconds.
Ten, nine, eight...you get it.

Didn't expect anything to happen.
But when the seconds on my phone turned from 59 to 00...
Turning the day from December 20 to December 21...
I looked up into the air.

We all did.

Directly over our heads, and I mean directly over our heads...
Not a little north, or to the left, or over the house next door, or a bit over there...
But directly over our heads...at approximately 300 feet...
I was an Army aviator. I know 300 feet AGL.

Directly over our heads, silently moving....
Not a whisper from it.
Not a hum.
Not a rush of air.
Slowly, silently, in black-out mode (that's no visible lights) it was there.

Right over our fucking heads.

A triangular craft.
It looked like a stealth platform that was mocked up intentionally to look like an alien craft.

It could have dropped a soda can on us with accuracy.

I know what stealth fighters and bombers look like.
I was an Army pilot. I lived at the end of an Air Force runway for a year in S. Korea.
I was stationed at an Air Base domestically.
I flew in countless air shows and events.

I knew these other aircraft types extremely well.
Friend and foe identification was part of my job.

This was either one of two things.
It was a stealth platform intentionally mocked-up to look like an alien craft,
Or it was an alien craft.

We all saw it.

It was in a populated area.
You don't fly at 300' feet above ground level in a populated area.
You certainly don't fly with no running lights on.
The engines were either cut or totally off.
It was silent.

It passed directly over us precisely, and I mean fucking precisely as the second hand turned the new day.
We all saw it.

My friend's wife ran into the house without saying a word. She was terrified.
My friend followed her.
I stood there speechless.

I'm never speechless.

I joined them in the house.
I was in shock.
We didn't talk about it.
She was upset and he told me not to bring it up.

We just both gave each other the guy "what the fuck?!" "I don't know..." thing.

I have brought this up in circles over the years after noticing people following me.
It trickled into them and they also had the question of what it was.

The official response was given to me.
It was a stealth bomber that had gotten lost and was just coincidentally there at that time.

BULLSHIT


Those things don't get lost.
If they lost all instrument flight capability and GPS then they would climb to altitude and put on every light they had.
Those things don't lose all instrument flight capabilities.
They don't fly at 300 feet in a populated area, rural or not.

It was directly over my head precisely as the seconds turmed the day.

No fucking way.

I have always called bullshit.

It was photographing me.
Or
It was sending me a message.
Or it was ready to drop a bomb on me.
Or it was a legit alien craft.

This is a 100% truthful recounting of this event.
It was coordinated.

I believe our government has alien look-alike crafts for some future purpose.

They were fucking with me.

Or it was worse than that.
It was legit.

I know what I saw.

My friends spoke to me weeks later when I showed up at their home to drink more beer.
They said I couldn't come in.
What? I said in disbelief. What happened?
"We've known each other for 20 years but some officials came by and told us not to talk about that thing, and not to talk to you anymore" my friend said.

They informed me that they planted a tree out back and put a stone marker on it to remember me.
They thanked me.

What are you thanking me for! I asked in bewilderment.
They said their mortgage had been paid off.

That was the last time I ever saw them.
