Dare or Not Dare

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

There is (was?) a long time barang business owner on the riverfront who I assume does not speak Khmer because when I hear his employees talking about him (in front of him) in the third person they refer to him as 'via'.

I find Kompong Thom and Kompong Chnang have the strongest accents. They're almost like the Swiss with their yodeling voices.

What does via mean? I've actually never heard it. "ah-kot" is also quite bad...

Via means It. Normally we use it to refer to thing or animal. Ah Kot or Ah kot nis is not really rude. We use this phrase for man and especially when the person is really boring or behaving silly.

One of my favorite Khmer expressions is 'gdoy mae via'.

I use it daily. :assasin:

អរគុណច្រើនចំពោះការចែករំលែក។ អ្នកពិតជាមានភាពក្លាហានមែន។
