Is CEO Repeating The Mistakes of That Other Site

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

I'm glad we cleared that up.

Having said that, I'm not gonna go anal on every thread or post that annoys me but if I do at times, thanks in advance for indulging me.

Annoyed with poultry? I find that hard to believe! Image

To answer the original question of this thread: is this site repeating the mistakes of the other forum? ... the answer is....not yet. The mistake of the other site is to take the average poster for granted. The message over there was repeated often by the pathetic owner. He liked to quote the heinous Khmer Rouge slogan "to keep you is no gain, to lose you is no loss", when he was threatening anyone who posted something he didn't want to read. For the first time, those banned K440 posters can still have a voice and reply directly to whomever they wish over there.

IF this forum continues to respect it's posters and their privacy, and NOT ban them or delete comments just because the mods feel like it, then this site will find it's niche and thrive over time. The problem was never with the tone or content of some threads there. The problem has always been about lack of respect and lack of fairness.

If you have called a truce between board owners, honor it. However let your forum members have a say.
I agree. Have no problem with these threads being moved here, but I hope CEO stays true to the ideals of No Censorship and Transparency.
What about people who get annoyed by your vendetta? Are they free to speak out whenever you're starting a pettiness thread?
Sure, why not. Is there a way for me to stop them? I don't recall starting any "pettiness" threads; maybe they turned out that way in your view. I was clearly in it for the intelligent debate and humour.
Joon wrote:That's what I did in that other thread. In the meantime, posters have clearly said they are not bound by what the admins on both sides agreed to. I'm not bound to shut up then.
I never agreed to anything. They never told me to stop. I didn't read anything that said asked me to stop. Some threads got moved. I now wonder if this was because you were complaining about them?
Joon wrote:I didn't suggest that he stops, I asked whether people who are annoyed by it are free to speak up as well. See the difference?
I see the difference. You are free to speak up. But you being annoyed by me is a YOU problem, not a ME problem.
Joon wrote:So you telling me "don't like it, don't read it" is precisely against my freedom to express my opinion.

Can you live with that?
#1 - No it's not AGAINST "your freedom to express your opinion". Him saying "don't like it, don't read it" is "his freedom to express his opinion". As far as I know your welcome to "keep freely expressing your opinion and reading things you don't like or disagree with" even after he says "don't like it, don't read it".

You see how messy this freedom stuff is?

#2 - When he deletes your account because he's an admin, then MAYBE it's against "your freedom to express your opinion".

When I contemplate #2 further, it's little more than a ocean sized grey area because you can go download phpBB and say "Screw those guys!" and start your own forums.

Edit:
#3 - I have one question for you Joon, why do you love K440 so much yet post on CEO (or do you post on both sites?)

I do post on both sites. K440 gets more of my serious posting and CEO gets more of my social posting.

I self-censor quite a lot on both sites, because when I see bullshit, infantile behavior, attention-whoring and fallacious logic, I have the urge to point them out and call people out on them. But I refrain, I think twice and tone down a bit because 1) I am aware I can be guilty of those too and I don't want to be a self-righteous, know-it-all, insufferable cunt. 2) I value harmony in a group, without falling into uniformity. 3) I want to see the best in people, and I can't expect it if I don't strive myself to be a good, decent person.

So me calling you out is not just a me problem, but a REAL me problem. And while you seem to think it's all just about me, it's not. When I'm part of a community, I know that what I write and how I behave reflect on that community and its members.
And I think that the obsessive K440 bashing is immature, uncalled for and reflects badly on the CEO community and thus on me. I might be the only one who holds this opinion but it bothers me and I take it at heart and I spoke up.

You don't have to self-censor on K440, they take care of that for you... and if you really get out of control, they'll just delete you.

Just go ask them on their forums.

Oh wait. You can't...

No offence , but I think it's your irrational posts, hypocrisy and exaggeration that reflects badly on us. And it sounds a bit self important, for a lone person trying to force his will on others.

One of the biggest things I disliked on the other site was the mega posting of a few posters centered on numerous personal one liner light hearted conversations between themselves. It appeared on a lot of threads often derailing them from the original topic. I seriously hope that doesn't happen here. Quality over quantity is I guess what I'm hoping for.
