Is CEO Repeating The Mistakes of That Other Site

If you have something so weird, strange or off-topic to post and think it doesn't belong in any other forum; you're probably right. Please put all your gormless, half-baked, inane, glaikit ideas in here. This might also be a place where we throw threads that appear elsewhere that don't belong ANYWHERE end up, instead of having to flush them. FORUM RULES STILL APPLY.

That's the chance you take when you try to have a serious debate on a forum whose big boss uses that tagline.

And I vote he should keep it. It's rather fitting and gives fair warning on what to expect, LoL.

In my opinion, it is COMPLETLEY 100% inappropriate.
See, it was written in reply to everyone who was going to think exactly as you do! He's psychic!

He replied to your comment before you could even think of it. He's good.

Ironic, since you were the one who started this thread questioning the early handling of this website.

Still feel that way now? You most likely won't get your account frozen here (or banned, or whatever terminology they throw around), no matter how you challenge the owners in your posts.
I think the most accurate term is deleted, shades of "the final solution". I am happy to admit that my first impressions of this site are proving to be groundless, and the simple courtesy displayed by the owners is a refreshing change. :hattip:

Cool, we're glad you came around! We try hard. And thanks for the constructive criticism earlier. You started a good thread with many valid points. Image

How to reign that in without over moderation and deleting posts is the big problem any forum moderator faces.
Bit of an exaggeration... try 2 pages, of a 4 page topic.... a little more realistic.
Really? Have you seen this complete circle jerk? 15 pages, 90% of which is by 2 poster's back and forth nonsense.

I just scanned the first 3 and last 3 pages of that topic. Of those 6 pages I only saw a single page with less than 4 people commenting, and none with less than 3. It's a single thread on a topic which apparently most here don't have a strong interest in... but 2 people do, so are discussing it heavily.

[Edit: I also just jumped to page 8 in it, so see what was going on near the middle... tons of people posting who weren't those "2 poster's back and forth nonsense".]

When you have 2 people who disagree, there WILL always be a back and forth... it's called a conversation. Sometimes others will chime in, or even dominate the conversation... sometimes not. Do you suggest that we shouldn't allow conversations? Or that we should somehow force others to participate more while 2 people are having one?

Are you reading those posts? When a thread deteriorates into a slag fest then why not move it to the asinine forum? The "multiple other posters" you see there are all basically only saying "enough of this, dude, shut up".

But whatever. Leave it. who cares anymore?
